Where do screen stars go after winning a Golden Globe? Not Disney World.
Award season may seem like it's just begun, but filmmakers and stars are already months into the long slog to the podium--with press junket followed by photo opp followed by dress fitting. (Rinse, repeat.) But you know celebrities--they're just like us, daydreaming about vacation, so we asked a few of the winners of last night's 73rd Golden Globes where they want to seek refuge in 2016.
SIR RIDLEY SCOTT
Sir Ridley Scott, director of the Castaway-meets-Apollo 13 movie The Martian, celebrated two wins at the Golden Globes--for best motion picture (comedy or musical) and best actor in a motion picture (comedy or musical, Matt Damon). He's certainly a fan of far-flung locations...
Condé Nast Traveler: Your work has taken you around the world, and now, to Mars. Is there a place you've been, or filmed, that we should visit next?
Sir Ridley Scott: Every time I have a holiday, I never want to go anywhere but home, but two weeks ago I saw all the South Island of New Zealand in two and a half days. That means I got within nine feet [by helicopter] of the highest peak all the way to the top. That's part of the job. I would also go back to Morocco in a flash. I have been there four times, and I know Morocco probably as well as any Moroccan. You get to travel, and that's partly why I love the job.
TARAJI P. HENSON

Condé Nast Traveler: I am not going to ask for cookies, but I want to know about Chicago. Is there anything special you have learned while spending time there shooting?
Taraji P. Henson: [Chicago has] really good food and [it's] amazing in the summertime. Hate it in the winter. I live right on the lake. The view is spectacular. They have beaches. I can't believe I haven't bought property in Chicago before; like, it is really amazing. That city is very amazing. I love it. I don't ever want to leave.
SAM SMITH
With 21 music awards in hand (now 22 after the Globes), soulful superstar Sam Smith won his first film award for his hit song "Writing's on the Wall," featured in the latest James Bond flick Spectre, alongside songwriter Jimmy Napes. So where does a future EGOT winner go to hide out?
Condé Nast Traveler: You've traveled the world, gone to all these award shows. Where have you been that was wonderful--that you wouldn't have discovered otherwise?
Sam Smith: So many places. I always wanted to travel the world. One of the amazing places I went to was Byron Bay, and I brought my sisters and we went to this beach. (This beach?) I love Byron Bay; Australia is great.
