Travelocity's Top 10 Memorial Day Destinations of 2013

Posted: 04/30/2013 9:00 am

There's a glimmer of hope for air travelers this Memorial Day weekend. According to Travelocity booking data, domestic fares are finally down two percent, after experiencing a steady increase over the past three years. You can expect to pay an average of $341 on a round trip domestic flight. International flights are also down just one percent, but as a frequent overseas flier, I'll take any break I can get!

So where are people traveling this Memorial Day? U.S. vacationers tend to be creatures of habit when it comes to Memorial Day destinations. New York City has held Travelocity's number one spot since 2011, and Florida destinations Orlando and Miami consistently linger at the top of the list. Trending this Memorial Day is Washington, D.C., which enjoyed a jump from the number six spot two years ago to the number three spot in 2013, perhaps thanks to its six percent drop in airfare this year. Denver also made a leap from ninth most popular last year to fifth most popular this year. Drumroll...here's the full Top 10 List:
