Brian Lamb, also a founder of the cable industry's iconic channel for civic-minded viewers, convincingly explains to me in this video clip why he believes so strongly in not screening callers, no matter how foolish their views might be.
The week after our interview, a North Carolina caller caused yet another debate over C-SPAN's open-phones policy by saying the network was allowing so many black viewers to call in that it should change its name to "Black-SPAN." Here's that clip . . .
