Is it tragic or just plain ironic that health reform suffers along with Ted Kennedy? It was Kennedy, after all, who put Barack Obama on a winning path to the White House, vowing that his ward would change things. Instead, the President is on vacation nearby the ailing Democrat this month (at a Republican's house) having changed nothing of substance. The wars abroad, so passionately opposed by Kennedy, are as big as ever. And the health care lobby that Kennedy spent his career opposing is winning again, thanks to Obama's acquiescence. Perhaps Ted and Caroline should regret their pivotal endorsement.

What we need are more Ted Kennedys. What happened to the Democrats?? Apparently they've sold their souls to the lobbyist. I voted for Obama, but honestly it was another "lesser of" vote just like the two previous elections were for me. I knew that he wasn't a "progressive", of course I didn't realize that I was one. LOL BUT I did think he would be a change from the previous administration. I really didn't expect a lot of turning back the "power grabs" though and he has proved me right on that one. Choosing Rick Warren to say a prayer at his inauguration lost me from the beginning. It will be hard for me to support him in 2012 if he doesn't deliver some "change" and quit pandering to the Republicans and the big coropration lobbyist etc.
Obama doesn't care about progressives. We were just the first stage of the rocket that blasted him into the White House. Now to stay in office he just needs to tweak a few votes in Montana and Colorado and he's golden. He knows the left will never have enough backbone to stand in the way of his mealy-mouthed compromises. Based on this country's history he's probably right.
Is any bookie taking $2.00 bets that Pres Obama will be a 1 term POTUS, it US efforts in Afghanistan fail &/or universal health care doesn't become the USA's law of the land by 12/31/09?
As usual, Craig, your comments are right on the money. Let's hope that President Obama reverts to the Candidate Obama we voted into office. If not, he will NOT get my vote in 2012. He has lost my vote by becoming just another politician. Many voters who strongly supported him in 2008 have become very disenchanted with President Obama. He will have to work very hard, starting now, to regain our good will in 2012.
