Win With Taxes?

Posted: 08/20/11 02:22 AM ET

Why is it that the Democratic Party faithful storming GOP town halls come up with better talking points for the tax debate than their own leaders?

Raising taxes on the rich -- or, better said, making them pay what they paid before George W. Bush -- is actually a popular notion according to polls, even among Republicans.

But too many Democrats in Washington fear "class warfare" attacks and are themselves so beholden to big money that they cannot muster the winning words that town hall protesters put together.

Talking here with "Countdown" Host Keith Olbermann about the matter (Current TV, 8/19)

Republicans could care less about this outcry. Liberals, leftists, progressives, democrats need to know that by so "taxing the rich" - only a few percent (less than 5%) of the problem is addressed.

The ability to see the forest from the trees appears to be a natural gift for the conservatives.

You gotta give them that. It's hard but we all need to face facts.

While the left continues to knit pick over trivia - at least some Americans have a handle on the fundamental problems.

Apparently, with so many from the left now supporting the tea-party, the left are losing their best thinkers.

Yesterday we read that our best defence was to cut taxes for the Super Rich...We really need to care of people that don't even keep thier money in this country...

In order to have an intelligent understanding of the political motivations of both parties it is important to begin with the fundamental fact that they are both beholden to corporate interests above and beyond everything else. Once we accept this fact their failures become not mistaken judgements but carefully planned corrupt practices. The Obama administration does follow the Bush foreign policy by mistake and the financial reform bill did not let the big banks off the hook by mistake. Unless and until money is removed from politics we must live with corrupt government no matter which party is in power.

The Republican party says they want to reduce the deficit but they continue to work for tax breaks for the top 2% and more breaks for big corporations. They also want to end Medicare and replace it with a voucher. Good luck finding health insurance at a price you can afford to pay. They want to end Social Security and give you a 201K. Your children will never be able to retire. The Republican party is too extreme. The top 2% have done very well while the middle class is dying. It is time for the top 2% to pay their fair share and be thankful that they live in a country that allowed them to get so rich.

In order to make a settlement or agreement over your taxes, you first need to make sure you are in full compliance with your tax filings and be sure to file any unfiled tax returns which is clearly mentioned in "Free Tax Settlement" website

the majority of those Taxed Enough Already people fail to realize that the taxes they are complaining about (federal) are actually the lowest they have been since the 50's the taxes they don't seem as upset about (local and state) ARE higher simply because the federal rate is low. The public demands a certain level of service from it's government and when the graduated tax rate at the federal level gets reduced the flat rate on state and local level needs to raise to meet the demand.
Meanwhile who are the people who benefit? you got it, that same top 2 % in earners who own more than the bottom 50% combined
