As a journalist I hate to admit this,but oftentimes so-called regular folk, unencumbered by the Beltway 'echo chamber' and need to relationships with sources, ask better questions of candidates and lawmakers. Their questions are motivated by their own experiences, challenges and needs - and provide folks like me with a better understanding of what people are really thinking in the 'Heartland' and what issues will dictate November's outcome. That's the whole idea behind www.AskYourLawmaker.org. And it is always an edifying experience for power brokers in Washington to be challenged directly by a voters.
