Asking Hillary Clinton to embrace ethics reform is like asking George Bush to embrace peace. This will never happen. The Clintons idea of Ethics is much closer to Bush than we give her credit for.
Remember, I'm a computer nerd, not a policy wonk. However, I've been getting a good education from folks at Sunlight Foundation and others like Larry Lessig.
Recently I heard a guy who's regarded as a Hillary surrogate talk about ethics reform in terms which weren't exactly flattering.
Me, well, Pelosi and others got off to a pretty good start last year. More needs to be done, sure, but attacking it, not so good.
Can anyone set me straight on this? I can identify with a guy being a loose cannon, but this was pretty unexpected.
UPDATE: regarding the first comment. As a nerd, I'm very literal, and "heard" the guy at a meal.
I've found some unfortunate blogging by the guy, but feel it's fair not to draw attention to it:
-- might not represent actual campaign positions
-- after thirteen years of customer service, I've learned not to encourage trolls
-- discretion is the better part of valor

Ethics with our politicians? That is a joke.
The bluedog democrats were paid off by the phone companies so they would vote for immunity for their companies. Now if that is not illegal and unethical I don't know what. How on earth can we expect a congress that works for the people when they only answer to those who give them their money? What an outcry this should be!
In order to reform, there needs to be "ethics" in the first place. Ethics seem to be sadly lacking in the politicians on both sides. There are some exceptions, but far too few. Term limits might help, but then they would just move on from their term to become lobbyists. When lobbyists write the bills, such as the pharmaceutical lobbyists have done, then all ethics are abandoned. Pharmaceutical companies last year spent more on advertising than on research. Wasn't their excuse for high prices that research is so costly?
I don't have a clue what you're talking about. Maybe providing a link to the "disparaging comments" would help?
