Just spoke with a GI visiting from Baquba

Seems like a good idea to learn stuff first hand. Here's the brief version:

• the GI bill's a great idea, should support a vet's kids. (I gotta find out.) He likes that Obama supports the troops, shook his head regarding McCain
• they got enough vehicle and body armor, and can improvise as needed
• Halliburton/KBR have a problem delivering hygienic water and food
• GIs have to knock at doors, not kick 'em in, and that gets the guys killed
• They like the Blackwater soldiers as individuals, but really resent that the mercenaries get paid much more for less work and fewer risks

I'm glad you got to talk to him. I don't think the media covers the war enough, and it is a disgrace that they don't give them the respect they deserve.
