Rule of Law and American Values: Obama for, Hillary Absent, McCain Flip-Flops Against

Hey, as a reminder, Congress is considering giving immunity to a coupla big telecoms for apparently breaking the law, specifically Constitutional protections.

There are folks in Congress who believe that no one is above the law, that the privileged should be treated like everyone else, but the good guys lost a fight today in the Senate:

Senate Moves to Shield Phone Companies on Eavesdropping

Obama, not McCain or Clinton, votes for electronic privacy

Remember that an unrelated case involving the telecom Qwest showed that wireless wiretapping was requested well before the administration showed any interest in terrorism. Here's more info on that.

Ronald Reagan never broke the law like this.

Enough. I want reasons why people still support Hillary Clinton.

1) selective memory - "bring back the good ole days"
2) feminazis
3) name recognition
4) fear of change
5) pity for political has-beens?

1. There is no rule of law in this country.
2. American values now consist of torture, indefinate imprisonment, military commissions, and an executive branch of government that has been given the option by congress of either following the law or not.

So unless we manage to purge the entire government of it's current criminals, nothing will change. Until after the revolution.

It's important to remember the context and the pressure that was put upon these companies to comply by legitimate law enforcement agencies. Everyone should resist suspect laws and regulations but few do and those who don't should hardly be singled out for penalty and punishment any more than the few that do resist ought to be persecuted and prosecuted.

Immunity for full disclosure, not a new concept in any D.A.'s office. Why has that never been on the table. Of course!
