Stand up to ease the suffering of millions: health care reform

digg Share this on Facebook Huffpost - stumble reddit del.ico.us RSS

Okay, I don't know much about health care, but in my day job, I see suffering, and it's pointless, we can help everyone out.

Check out Organizing for Health Care to give your fellow Americans a break:

President Obama has announced three bedrock requirements for real health care reform. It must:

  • Reduce Costs -- Rising health care costs are crushing the budgets of governments, businesses, individuals and families and they must be brought under control
  • Guarantee Choice -- Americans must have the freedom to keep whatever doctor and health care plan they have, or to select a new doctor or health care plan if they choose
  • Ensure Quality Care for All -- All Americans must have quality and affordable health care

Hmmm… Health Care for ALL Americans is Simple!

By Utilizing Existing Systems...

1) MERGE Medicare with Medicaide into one single "Income Based" system for poor and elderly citizens.

2) REQUIRE insurance companies to provide the same basic coverage for ALL Non-Medicare/Medicaide citizens, regardless of health status, at affordable rates.

3) ALLOW insurance companies to "Profit" by offering additional benefits and options to those who qualify and are willing to pay the difference.

As for Funding…

1) Changing from an "Emergency Treatment" to a "Preventive Care" system will save local communities billions, maybe even trillions of taxpayer dollars!

2) Small business will be able to compete globally and hire additional taxpaying employees!

3) Wealthy seniors will pay their fair share!

4) The tremendous burden on future generations will be greatly reduced!

"ensure quality care for all"

Except we're not getting quality care, we're getting substandard to poor care, when we can get care, Quality must come first, or the rest becomes irrelevant and we will be calling for another round of reform that will take decades to install because no one bothered to install the reforms that need to be done now regarding quality, because everyone is so obsessively, neurotically concerned with cost
