SPOILER ALERT: Do not read on if you have not seen Season 3, Episode 14 of The CW's The Vampire Diaries, entitled, "Dangerous Liaisons."

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, or so they say, and when it comes to Esther Mikaelson, well, she's the craziest tree in the bunch. I knew that the Original Witch had ulterior motives for forgiving her son Klaus, but I never thought that she would go that far.

By saying that she wanted her family to be together again, what Esther really meant was, "I'm going to kill all my children because they are abominations." And how does she plan to kill them? By binding all her children together, so when one dies, they all will die, including Klaus.

Excuse me, but Elijah was just returned to us, and they are already planning on taking him away?! Life is really unfair sometimes.

Perhaps no one knows that better than Damon, who finally poured his heart out to Elena, but unfortunately for him, she didn't necessarily share his sentiments.

The eldest Salvatore brother told Elena that he loved her, and before Delena fans could let out a proper cheer, Elena totally killed the moment by replying, "Maybe that's the problem." Ouch! That's worse than Han Solo's "I know."

Clearly upset, Damon walked away, but with swagger that could only mean one thing: the old Damon is back! Sure, he may be heartbroken, but I really missed the old Damon. He was getting too soft. Plus, this means that Damon's returning to his bad boy ways just as Stefan seems to be thawing out his heart.

Elena is still hung up on Stefan, and Stefan, well, he's still hung up on Elena, but he's not going to allow himself to open up his heart again. It just hurts too much, you know?

After swaggering off, Damon caused quite a scene when he tried to kill Kol. However, Kol was trying to kill Matt, and anyone who tries to harm Matt deserves to be hurt.

(Side note: Zach Roerig did tell HuffPost TV that hooking up with Rebekah "would be short-lived... because one of her crazy ancestor brothers would probably rip my throat out right afterward.")

So after causing a major party foul, Damon ended the night with a seriously sexy bang: he slept with Rebekah! OK, Delena fans, before you start throwing things around your room in anger, just think about it for a second. Rebekah was totally bummed that Matty rejected her, and Damon was upset that Elena didn't return -- or even sympathize with -- his "I love you."

I can't say I blame Damon. Elena was the one at fault in this situation. In fact, she was at fault throughout the entire episode. In order to complete her binding spell, the Original Witch needed one thing: Elena's blood. Not only did Elena giver Esther her blood, but she also lied to Elijah.

Elijah, the "moral" brother, clearly has feelings for Elena (I know, how does she get all these hot guys to obsess over her?!), but it's too bad Elena lied to Elijah and helped his mother find a way to kill him.

Meanwhile, tonight also cemented my love of Caroline and Klaus. I mean, she looked like a princess, he said he fancied her, and there was even a horse! Caroline was definitely the Cinderella of the Mikaelson ball, but that didn't mean that she was going to let Klaus be her Prince Charming.

After Klaus promised to show her the world, Caroline went all J.Lo-circa-"My-Love-Don't-Cost-a-Thing" on Klaus, throwing the bracelet he gave her back in his face.

Obviously, she still has feelings for Tyler, but Klaus is letting Caroline see a side of him that I don't think he's ever shown anyone. Klaus doesn't trust people too easily, but he trusts Caroline and her brutal honesty.

These two are completely perfect for each other. Caroline likes to fix people, Klaus wants a companion and they both have series daddy issues. And who better to show Caroline the positive side of being a vampire than Klaus?

Even my roommate Jewlie, who has only seen approximately six episodes of TVD, can see the chemistry between the two. Just read the following exchange between us (note: this occurred when Caroline made her grand entrance into the ball):

Jewlie: "They love each other."

Me: "No, I think he fancies her, and she is disgusted by him."

Jewlie: "Yeah, especially now that wolf boy is out of the picture -- fixing himself. Klaus has time to make his move."

Obviously, this means that Klaus and Caroline are meant to be. Regardless of whether or not the two will eventually be together, I like who Klaus is when he's with Caroline. If nothing else, I'd love to see these two become future confidants.

Notable Quotables:

"It's not bad enough that they're moving into town, and now they need a house-warming gift?"
--Damon

Can we go back to the old Stefan, the one who cared if Elena lived or died?"
--Damon

"I've had training. I happen to be Miss Mystic Falls."
--Caroline, to Klaus

"You're no dog yourself."
--Damon

"When we were together, you used to let me make my own decisions. You trusted me. At least after all this, that hasn't changed."
--Elena, to Stefan

"You're beautiful, you're strong, you're full of light."
--Klaus, to Caroline (swoon!)

"No, I'm mad at you because I love you."
--Damon, to Elena

"It's just Elijah. He's so moral."
--Esther

The Vampire Diaries airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. EST on The CW.
