An Open Letter from London to Boston

(0) Comments | Posted April 19, 2013 | 4:25 PM

This article was meant to be so easy to write, and it was initially. When I first wrote it on Sunday 14th April, all I had to do was say why on earth I decided to run the London Marathon this Sunday. It is not that complicated: because I can....

Pistorius and a Complete Lack of Perspective

(0) Comments | Posted February 23, 2013 | 5:38 AM

Would you be reading about a shooting in South Africa over your morning cornflakes if the possible shooter was not Oscar Pistorius, one of the biggest names in Paralympics and the Olympics? You think you would, wouldn't you, after all, a murder is a murder, each one deservers as much...

(0) Comments | Posted February 8, 2013 | 3:45 PM

Several people last week found out that Qatar existed after the signing of David Beckham to Paris St. Germain. After PSG was purchased via Qatar's sovereign wealth fund, an influx of talent has brought Qatar to the world's attention, most notably Beckham. Yes, there is a debate whether he was...

Brand Armstrong

(0) Comments | Posted January 24, 2013 | 5:25 PM

Last year I wrote an article in defence of Lance Armstrong. Granted this was prior to the evidence collected on him being made public, but I will still readily admit that I was wrong to defend him and fall on my sword of my own making. Yet, I...

(0) Comments | Posted December 15, 2012 | 8:50 AM

"They're all scroungers!"

This was the debate I endured a few weeks ago with an acquaintance of mine on the subject of benefits. I am always happy to debate an important matter with individuals from all political leanings. Just because I...

ANC: End of the Party?

(0) Comments | Posted September 11, 2012 | 1:35 PM

The cracks in the dusty earth at the Marikana mine have come to represent so much more. They have come to symbolise not only the cracks in the ANC, but in South Africa itself.

The decision to charge and then release 270 miners with murder was firstly, ridiculous. No...

Neil, Lance and the American Dream

Guilty until proven innocent? Surely I have that wrong? Yet that is how the US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) and some sections have chosen to perceive Lance Armstrong. Personally, I am doubtful of the allegations. Yes, he dominated one of the world's most physically demanding events for seven years; a feat...

What Aurora Will Mean for November

(0) Comments | Posted July 25, 2012 | 6:36 AM

To begin I would like to express, from the very marrow of my bones, my sincerest condolences to those affected by the shootings in Aurora, Colorado. I also apologise in advance if this article seems insensitive in how short a period it has been since the shooting. This is not...

All Roads Lead to Baku

(0) Comments | Posted July 10, 2012 | 3:42 PM

After Vladimir Putin's fleeting visit to Israel last week, many analysts concentrated on the fact that these talks were driven by events in Tehran. This is of course true. However, many missed the fact that a greater, long term game is being played out in the Caucuses, namely in Azerbaijan....
