Like thousands of New Yorkers, I spent about 5 hours waiting in line a year ago to buy Apple's (AAPL) then-new iPhone 3G. Since then, the iPhone has changed the way I work and play more than any other gadget I've ever purchased -- mostly for the better.

Apple (AAPL) CEO Steve Jobs is back in Cupertino -- for good, we hope -- after a six-month medical leave. A Memphis hospital confirmed Tuesday -- with Steve's blessing -- that Jobs received a liver transplant, and that he's "now recovering well and has an excellent prognosis."
