Carl Paladino Likes It Hot

What's Your Reaction:

In what was billed as a major campaign announcement, GOP gubernatorial basket case Carl Paladino hailed the sexual power of his Democratic rival, state Attorney General Andrew Cuomo.

There was more, but what the world will remember is: "Andrew's prowess is legendary." Not the next step in a campaign anybody, including the Republicans, should have been planning.

Paladino, 64, is still complaining about the fact that the New York Post dispatched a reporter and photographer to the home of his 10-year-old love child and former mistress.

"For weeks the media has badgered me about affairs because unlike a career politician, I was honest enough to acknowledge she was my daughter," the Buffalo builder said during a three-minute infomercial aired on Buffalo TV stations.

"Does the media ask Andrew such questions? Andrew's prowess is legendary," he added.

The idea of investigating Andrew Cuomo's sex life fills me with the deepest despair. The only thing more suicidal might be an investigation of Paladino's sex life. The entire state of New York has been dragged into some sort of angry-guy fantasy of a political campaign.

Paladino caught the attention of every state reporter on Thursday when his campaign revealed he had purchased TV time for a special announcement. It turned out to be TV time on three stations in Buffalo, and the announcement was more of the same: Albany is broken; everybody's a crook; Carl has a plan -- and oh, by the way, Andrew Cuomo has had way more paramours and why is nobody asking him about it?

"A pit bull is more housebroken than Carl Paladino," said NYU's Mitchell Moss.

A pit bull in heat, it seems. Despite what he says about the importance of issues, Paladino just can't stop talking about sex. He's the guy in your college dorm who could never get a date. Women know he's a loser.

If you doubt this, take a look at the latest Quinnipiac poll. The survey gives Cuomo a comfortable 18-point lead in the race. But the attorney general's edge among men is razor thin (47-46 percent). However, Cuomo's lead over Paladino among women is a jaw-dropping 35 points (63-28 percent).

Paladino's angry-white-man-on-the-warpath schtick carried him to the GOP nomination and still resonates with many men and upstate voters. But his abysmal performance with women dooms him to defeat.

The Tea Party-favorite also managed to make himself look ridiculous with a testosterone-drenched complaint that Cuomo was afraid to debate. "Come out and debate like a man," he challenged.

As it turned out, Paladino was the only gubernatorial candidate who hadn't agreed to participate in an Oct. 18 debate. His campaign quickly backtracked and announced that Paladino would take part.

Can't wait. Sigh.

What a pathetic clown, and what a perfect poster boy for the constituency he represents!

Paladino looks like the illegitimate love child of Abe Vigoda and Rocky the Raccoon, without the charm.

There are no answers in anger friends. NY's women see every snarling ex-husband they every had in this guy. Anger is for children who really don't want to do their homework, not for our leaders. The founders language is not angry, but thoughtful and earnest. I think we are just getting ready to round the curve into 'a trip to thoughtful,' It stands to reason that with a going population, the size of government grows. How do educate kids if it does not grow. Being angry does not help us build a country for them, it just teaches our kids to rtear it down. So friends before the angry take us a joyride into hell, and gives our kids nightmares (in the form of angry-white-guys) be thoughtful as to the purpose of leadership.

too funny! I heard Paladino is bringing in Paulie Walnuts and Furio for crowd control and having Carmine Jr. write his introductory statement.

LOL. Actually, I've always thought of Paladino as one of Phil Leotardo's captains.

I watched one of Paladino's rants on TV. This guy is a danger to society.

I think he has the character to make a go of it in the Mafia, though.

If you think an authoritarian, big-dog, might-makes-right, thuggish society is a good idea, then this is your guy. If you don't...

Nothing "jaw dropping" about women's superipor intuition sir. and if you don't think there are hundreds of thousands of Archie Bunker and Bill O'reilly types in "sophisticated/erudite " NYC city area....well, you have obviously never spent much time on Long Island....

You know...when I was growing up in Queens New York, a guy like Paladino wasn't over-the-top -- he was average! He was like my Dad, and the Dads in the neighborhood in South Ozone Park, and my Uncles Jimmy and Sonny. Any Sunday dinner at grandma's over lasagna, you'd hear 6 Carl Paladino's ranting.

But now, all the dapper feu-feu's have taken over NYC, and it's "oh, dear, how dreadful...where is my handkerchief....I think I might sneeze."
08:22 AM on 10/08/2010
Yep, in the good ole days, there were lots of Neanderthals roaming around.

When I was growing up in the South, there were still colored water fountains.

Doesn't make it right, though...

You're right- in any family of our ethnic origin, there were always a few (male) relatives that resembled Carl Paladino at the dinner table.

However, THEY weren't running for the Governorship of NYS. Carl Paladino IS - scary.

Yeah, you're right. The description properly should have been, "angry-old-white-man-on-the-warpath".

Not to nit pick at the writing at the end of your article, but, the Paladino campaign filmed/taped the 3 minute segment at 4pm. At around 4:15pm it was already in the hands of various media outlets in which at that point WGRZ-TV in Buffalo, NY forwarded it on to the Cuomo campaign. After reviewing the segment, the Cuomo campaign all of a sudden decided to accept a debate offer before Paladino's segment hit the airwaves at 5:13pm.
In the end, in my opinion, the Paladino campaign succeeded. The 3 minute segment got the Cuomo campaign to finally agree to a debate, which at this point may be Paladino's only hope to close the gap.

do you really think Paladino is going to be able to keep his temper during a debate? i don't. which means it ought to be REAL interesting!
08:28 AM on 10/08/2010
Yeah, I wish it were available nation-wide!
08:40 AM on 10/08/2010
I agree that the debate will be interesting. There are many questions that Cuomo has to answer in my opinion. One is the HUD meltdown. The other is why Cuomo, our Attorney General, did very little about the corruption he talks about in his campaign trail. Why Hevesi, who stoled millions of dollars of the taxpayer's money, only faces up to 4 years with the possibility of no jail time at all. At this stage of the game, it's not only Paladino who has to control his temper, voters are as equally upset .
