Danielle Douglas is a New Jersey native who was “boyfriended” or tricked in to the sex trade as a freshman at Northeastern University. After two years, Danielle was able to escape from her pimp’s control with the help and support of her mother. She is now an advocate against sex trafficking and works with the Polaris Project and the Coalition Against Trafficking in Women in New York. She most recently petitioned Merriam-Webster to change its definition of the word “pimp.” Danielle is married and has two young children.
