GET UPDATES FROM Dave Chase

Beginning in the mid 80’s, Dave Chase was a management consultant working for one of the largest consulting firms in the world in their health care practice. He primarily worked for providers and how they managed the process and systems that interfaced with the payors (i.e., insurance companies, Medicare, etc.). He later founded Microsoft's health care business where he gained an even deeper view into the workings of the industry not only in the U.S. but all over the world. Despite having been a strong believer in the free market and member of the GOP, he observed that the costly and convoluted U.S. health payment "system" would make Rube Goldberg proud.

He is currently the CEO of Avado, a patient relationship management company that was a TechCrunch Disrupt finalist and described by TechCrunch as the "Salesforce.com of Healthcare." The Wall Street Journal referred to Avado as "the best option for you to take control of your medical records." You can follow him on Twitter @chasedave.

Health 2.0 just had its largest ever event, with 50 percent more attendees than their previous largest event. A number of companies launched during the conference, but like many events, the most interesting activity wasn't what happened on the main stage but the many side meetings/events that took...

RIP Marcus Welby, MD

Our byzantine insurance bureaucracy has taken a toll on your family physician. Marcus Welby wouldn't recognize today's typical primary care practice. It can take a patient days to get in for an appointment, they arrive for an appointment, wait 45 minutes in the crowded waiting room, wait again in the...

Imagine a cost in your business or personal budget that grew 3400% faster than all other costs. Would you do something about it? That is what has happened to health care costs over the last 50 years. While other goods have gone up 8x in the last 50 years, health...

Health Insurance's Bunker Buster

With my extensive health care background, many people have asked for my opinion during the health reform debate. My response has been that the only way to really "reform" the system is to blow it up and start over, which isn't politically feasible. After delving deeper into the current legislation,...
