David Lane is ONE's President and CEO.

Before coming to ONE, David was director of public policy and external affairs of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Prior to that, David held several federal government positions. At the U.S. Department of Commerce, he was chief of staff to Secretary William Daley after serving as director of policy and strategic planning. Prior, he worked at the White House National Economic Council, serving as executive director and director for defense reinvestment.

Before joining the government, David worked as a management consultant and as a foreign policy legislative assistant in the U.S. Senate.

David has a Master of Public Affairs degree from the Woodrow Wilson School at Princeton University and an undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and vice-chair of the Board of Transparency International USA.
