David Petrie started sharing stories about fatherhood in a proven-effective parenting skills class run by a friend. He was asked to come to share his mistakes and never left; he has now taught the course for seven years. He worked as an adolescent behavioral therapist on a locked psychiatric ward and managed a day-treatment program for juvenile delinquents, but feels he learned the most about parenting while driving a school bus on a long route through the cornfields of Iowa.

David now lives in Vermont with his wife and four children, and works as an editor for an educational publishing company. He tells his stories here and on Steve Cantara’s morning show on WRNX in Amherst, Massachusetts. E-mail him at daddyshome.davidpetrie@gmail.com and he'll write back -- he promises.
