Excuse Me, But I Have Something To Say About the Reverend Wright Scandal

digg Share this on Facebook Huffpost - stumble reddit del.ico.us RSS

Excuse me, but I have something to say about the Reverend Wright scandal.

Hello? Maybe you didn't hear me: I said, I have something to say about the Reverend Wright scandal.

"Reverend Who," you ask? Reverend Wright. (Maybe they're not covering him in your media market?) He's a goofball who hops around and bangs on podiums and does celebrity impressions.

Anyway, he's involved in a scandal -- or, maybe he IS the scandal -- or, the scandal is that he wasn't saying anything about the scandal at first(?) but now he's saying something about it -- anyway, the whole thing is a scandal. And I have something to say about it.

COULD YOU PLEASE STOP TALKING AND LISTEN TO ME?

I really think it would help if you heard what I have to say about the Reverend Wright scandal.

Once you've heard what I have to say about the Reverend Wright scandal, you won't look at Reverend Wright, or his scandal, or what people have to say about his scandal, in the same way ever again. Because I have something NEW and ASTONISHING and ORIGINAL to say about the Reverend Wright scandal.

It's an analysis of the scandal, sure. . . but it's so much more than that: It's also a personal reflection on the scandal, but contained within that personal reflection is a broader theory about the scandal -- a theory that actually serves to illuminate some of my points about the lesson of the scandal. And those points about the lesson of the scandal are just a preamble to my multi-dimensional political projection about the fallout of the scandal. . . which is merely the vehicle I'll use to drive home my thesis about the historical ramifications of the media portrayal of the subtext of the ideological faultlines that run the risk of overtaking the scandal!!!

Not to mention the fact that I'm going to make a HILARIOUS PUN about the scandal!

Honestly? When all is said and done (which should take about fifteen hundred hours, according to my calculations), what I hope to offer is an award-worthy, goosebump-raising call to arms about the scandal.

What I'm going to say about the Reverend Wright scandal will change the way the game called "Saying Things About the Reverend Wright Scandal" is played. . . FOREVER. It's the equivalent of introducing entirely new letters into Scrabble, or allowing manatees and ping-pong paddles in chess matches.

Are you paying attention? Hello?

What do you mean, "you're listening to what somebody else has to say about the Reverend Wright scandal?" ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND??? This is me we're talking about, here: The man who literally has something to say about the Reverend Wright scandal! Who are you gonna listen to, if not me?

Jeez, I think you owe me as much. Why?

BECAUSE I AM TYPING ON MY COMPUTER KEYBOARD.

I mean, do you have any idea how important this scandal is? I'll give you a hint:

It's very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, important.

You've never seen that many back-to-back "very's" in one place, have you?

No, you haven't.

That's more than two hundred very's. That's a "very huge" amound of very's, in case you didn't know.

The Reverend Wright scandal is that important.

And I have something to say about it. But I'm not going to say it until everyone is listening to me.

Hello. . . I'm waiting. . .

(Goes out to check the mail; goes to the gym; watches four episodes of 'What Not To Wear')

Well, I'm back, and I've decided not to wait any longer: I simply have to say what I have to say about the Reverend Wright scan--

OH GOD.

YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!

I DON'T BELIEVE THIS. . .

See that guy over there, on the other side of the internet? See him? The guy looking all smart?

HE SAID WHAT I HAD TO SAY ABOUT THE REVEREND WRIGHT SCANDAL!

Life is unfair.

Life is unfair.

Life is unfair.

You want to talk about my Preacher? He runs a dial-a-prayer for atheists. You call and nobody answers. I feel better already. You can't play gotcha there.

There was a very good reason for the founding fathers to separate church from state. There was some religious-sounding material in the Declaration of Independence but that was about dumping King George. Also, those fancy words did not extend to slaves or women or Native Americans. Neither did the words of the Constitution, nor even the Bill of Rights. No matter, with the help of the religious rights we have abolished both the constitution and the Bill of rights. Talk about the growth of the Taliban. Right here in America the Christian Taliban is alive and well.

To me, all preachers are the same. Some are much more delusional than Rev. Wright. Just listen to AM radio in Hicksville USA. "God hates liberals, etc., etc., etc....." I just hoping that some snake won't make an obscene proposition to me on behalf of Eve - I might just take him up on it for spite.

Got Satan?

Rev. Wight may be very, 200 times very wrong but now that folks feel that it is fair game to question why people stay/attend certain churches "why are catholics staying in their church?" It seems that an instution that enables a system that allows pedophiles to prey on children is the type of institution that is abhorant. Then there are the polygimist sects that prey on children no one questions why these people are not more vigorously prosecuted. Yet no one questions why they remain in their church. Pedophilia is worse than a ranting and raging Rev. Wright.

AMEN! I have said the very same thing! Everyone keeps saying it's a lack in judgement, PLEASE don't get me started on the HILLBILL scandals and why she stayed in a marriage that was riddled with affair after affair right under her nose! And McCain...hmmm didn't he leave his wife and kids for his current wife Cindy? Why is it OBama's personal life is the only one being judged? Oh I forgot he's only half-white.

I think you and all those other bloggers are avoiding the real issue that the Rev. Wright controversy brings up. The issue is not what Rev. Wright said. The issue should be the silence of all the other preachers as we took our slide into war of choice, for greed, and backed up by rendition and torture. At least Rev. Wright has things he feels deeply about. The others are all tied up in issues to avoid.

Sounds exactly like a Hardball segment I heard the other day.

Then heard again in the next segment, like some Yogi berra deja-vu-all-over-again thing, except with more improved nausea.

MSNBC has now become Fox...pastors who are republicans commenting on Wright, racists who are republicans (Pat Buchanan and Joe Scarborough) commenting on Wright, people with McCain commenting on Wright, former Bush administration hacks commenting on Wright. All day. Andrea Mitchell, Chris Matthews, Monica Novotony ...24/7 Wright, Wright, Wright... and boy do they love Hillary now!

Get a load of what Pat Buchanan had to say about Rev. Wright. The excerpt below is from an article on his web site titled, A Brief for Whitey, posted on March 21, 2008. This is spewing hate against African Americans to the fullest. Why is this man able to get away with making these kinds of statements.
"This time, the Silent Majority needs to have its convictions, grievances and demands heard. And among them are these:"
"First, America has been the best country on earth for black folks. It was here that 600,000 black people, brought from Africa in slave ships, grew into a community of 40 million, were introduced to Christian salvation, and reached the greatest levels of freedom and prosperity blacks have ever known."
"Wright ought to go down on his knees and thank God he is an American."
"Second, no people anywhere has done more to lift up blacks than white Americans. Untold trillions have been spent since the ’60s on welfare, food stamps, rent supplements, Section 8 housing, Pell grants, student loans, legal services, Medicaid, Earned Income Tax Credits and poverty programs designed to bring the African-American community into the mainstream."
"Governments, businesses and colleges have engaged in discrimination against white folks — with affirmative action, contract set-asides and quotas — to advance black applicants over white applicants."

Pat Buchanan is a mean, hateful, patriarchal and desperate white man with a deep seated jealousy and disrespect for black people.

Just think about it...Jeremiah came out because he was angry at Obama. At least Louis Farragahn understood why Obama had to openly disgree with his philosphy and encourage people not to allow that to keep them from voting for the best candidate. But NOT Jeremiah Wright! This is a good lesson for him at his age...to know that his personal agenda has backfired and he has lost a lot of respect, not only from the media, but from clergy as well! To those of you that choose to stand behind this self-serving maniac, you need to ask yourselves...WHY? Then ask the Lord...to serach my heart O Lord! I would not ever follow a man that do not have a haven for me to go to...you noticed that I did not say ...or hell, because if your heart isn't right(Wright) you will not enter into the Kingdom of God! I am not judging you (I have no right to do so), but I do want you to think about what is in your heart?

I'll tell you why I stand behind Reverend Wright! It's because I have had personal contact with him and attended his church. You obviioiusly have not. I know the truth about this man - you do not! The man has done nothing wrong - only racists, Obama-haters, media nuts and self-righteous ignoramuses and speculators do! He has not committed any crime. He has not robbed, cheated or killed anybody! He has not lost respect! How would you know ? How do you know what you would do because you don't know the whole story or have ever attended Trinity. You don't know anybody in his congregation. How can you claim to have a heart by denouncing a man and his works who has done nothing but call on America to account for its own actions. He is not perfect. You and I aren't either - neither is anyone who claims to be clergy- As Jesus said, you need to pull the log out of your own eye.

We know the MSM sucks donkeys, right? Why the flood of articles about Wright here? Did Miley Cyrus die? I think that Dave Ree's point might be found in this clip I've put down below.

"In March, 1915, the J.P. Morgan interests, the steel, shipbuilding, and powder interest, and their subsidiary organizations, got together 12 men high up in the newspaper world and employed them to select the most influential newspapers in the United States and sufficient number of them to control generally the policy of the daily press....They found it was only necessary to purchase the control of 25 of the greatest papers.

"An agreement was reached; the policy of the papers was bought, to be paid for by the month; an editor was furnished for each paper to properly supervise and edit information regarding the questions of preparedness, militarism, financial policies, and other things of national and international nature considered vital to the interests of the purchasers." U.S. Congressman Oscar Callaway, 1917

Just be prepared. After your insight, FOX stalwarts (warts inteneded) will be hounding you. O'Reilly may want you on the same episode as Hillary appearance. Sean Hannity and his stooge will bring you to their audience along with the Colonel North. You may even get a mention, after your FOX appearances, on the Countdown's worst person, however that may be pushing it, as they would have to verify the other persons preemptive story about your story. Great Work!

Overdone by an order of magnitude (brevity is the soul of wit; prolixity is the bane), but this article makes a previous ignorant rant even funnier. The Obama drone (Winer, if I remember correctly) blared the laughably ignorant "Why is it so quiet (after the carefully scripted Moyers/Wright farce)," and it stimulated the posting reflexes of hundreds of tools who figured praising Crazy Jeremiah was a defense of magniloquent, done-nothing Obama.

you missed his point, which is about neither Obama or Wright. It is a scathing send up of the media and how they, even here, march in lock step, which apparently, only stimulated the posting reflexes of those who will take any opportunity to rip on Obama.

OK, David, it took you until the 4th prargraph to get to the point "...maybe he IS the scandal..." but I patiently waited for you to get your mail and come back, now that everybody's listening....only to find out that "I" blew it for you?
