News Alert! Some fancy lady named Lady Lynn Forester de Rothschild has decided that Barack Obama is an "elitist" and therefore she's going to endorse John McCain.

Is this the greatest news factoid of all time?

Answer: YES.

It turns out ol' Lady Lynn Forester der von Rothschild -- who "splits her time time between London and New York" -- was a major fundraiser for Hillary Clinton. (For some reason, I suddenly feel overwhelming sympathy for Sen. Clinton.)

After Obama beat Clinton in the Democratic primary, Lady de Rothschild was probably like, "Boo-hoo, my candidate lost, waah waah, nothing ever goes my way! Jeeves, please lower me into my diamond bathtub -- which is filled with real diamonds -- and shampoo my hair with the triple-distilled tears of orphans. Also, I command you to perform a champagne enema on one of my fine Arabian stallions while I liveblog it on my solid gold typepad account. C'est tres magnificique! (sp?)"

In a display of the trenchant policy analysis that has made her famous, Madame Lady Lynn Forest Whittaker de Rothschild von Pooter explained her McCain endorsement by saying of Obama:

"Frankly, I don't like him."

(As an Obama supporter, I would humbly request that Ladyboo Lynn de Forester von Chili Con Carne travel around the country, greeting voters and announcing that she doesn't like Barack Obama. Please don't forget to wear one of those floofy, flouncey scarves that you can buy at the MoMA store, and also please don't forget to sneer at everyone. May I also request that you wear all your jewels at once?)

I'm sure Obama will lose a lot of sleep over this. I know he was craving the endorsement. After all, we're talking about Baroness Lassie Lynn de von Forester d'el der McRothschild von de Beers VIII, the type of lady every American can relate to and wants to be friends with and definitely doesn't laugh at as soon as she turns her back (to check on her portfolio of private planets she owns).

Maybe now she and Cindy McCain can go shopping together and buy jewels at Cartier and be all like, "Ooh girl, that gem looks so good on your earlobe!" or whatever it is stupid rich old ladies do all day.

I have maintained and still do that the Clinton's do not want Obama to win. If Obama loses it opens the way for Hillary in 2012. Yes, Hillary is going on the campaign trail, but not with the vigor you would expect from someone who believes in NO MORE MCCAin, and where is Bill? Even though not many women can relate to a Rothschild, as the very rich are in a category all their own, this announcement falls on the heels of Hillary declining to appear at the UN on Monday because Sarah Palin is going to make a speech.Add­itionally this woman is on one of the DNC committees. If she were a true democrat there is no way that she could go over to McCain and the conservatives. There is too much at stake in philosophy that can affect woman for her to endorse McCain. I feel that she was trying to help her friend Hillary Clinton by bashing Obama, trying to make an additional slam to insure that Obama loses and further assuring a win for Hillary in 2012. Additionally, Hillary Clinton's decline from making a speech at the UN surely shows that she does not want to be compared to Palin. Hillary is protecting her own political future....

If anyone is going to publicly defect to McCain I must admit an overdressed elite ninny with too many last names and too many passports is just the sort of person I'd want to see do it. Wake up people! Look at the timing of her announcement, one day after the big Wall Street crash.! Anyone who knows the history of the Rothschild's knows that they are about making as much money by any means necessary. Somebody may have already said this above but I have so wanted to say it ever since I heard the news that i didn't read the other comments. Besides, its definitely worth saying twice. This is even better news for Hillary. It is sort of like a purge. we have always known that behind Hillary was this cadre of conservatives (both Democrats and Republicans) who wanted to maintain the status quo. I did listen to Lynn speak with Wolf yesterday. This wealthy lady now, once started in a working class family and then made it on her own, great ! I do not understand her point though. She was a strong supporter of Hillary and a close frind of the Clintons and now for McCain ? So, was Lynn there for her friendship but not for Hillary`s issues ?
