Here's the Associated Press:
"The House Tuesday passed a bill to keep the government running until mid-November, with both Democrats and Republicans determined to avoid a shutdown. The bill, which passed 404-14, also provides funding to continue Pentagon operations in Iraq and Afghanistan."
Dick Cheney was right: The war "may not be popular with the public -- it doesn't matter" because in Washington, the will of the people is a punchline rather than a mandate.

Desiderata weeps.
I agree with David and Cheney, the will of the People has been overcome by their elected representatives in regard to the funding. However, the battle is not over, so to speak.
This war was a mistake, if not an outright fraud. The larger issue is whether the United States will continue its imperialist effort to establish the New World Order by military force.
The War Profiteering Act sponsored by Representative Neil Abercrombie, Chairman of the Armed Services Subcommittees on Air and Land Forces says that the occupation of Iraq is "open season on U.S. taxpayers."
His proposed legislation would take the profit out of war. Cheney won this one but he is too old to be profiting on wars forever. He is still looking forward to looting Iran. That's why Halliburton moved into the neighborhood, and to avoid legal scrutiny of the obscene profits, aka, "waste, fraud and abuse."
The Act provides for criminal jurisdiction in the U.S. and doubling of damages.
So long as war is profitable we will have war.
Yep.
Seems they are going to need to see the physical bodies right there - sitting in their offices - sitting, and sitting, and sitting, and sitting-to get thru to them.
Just like the monks and the brave people in Burma - they need to see, feel and hear the bodies.
over and over and over again.
Yep.
Bring a big loud pot and spoon.
Dress loud and proud.
Take it to 'em.
Heh, heh!
God bless America and God bless Dick Cheney!
