VPILF

What's Your Reaction?

I'm constantly amazed by people's foresight. Henry Ford bet against all odds that the car would become a ubiquitous part of American life. Steve Jobs correctly predicted the movement of computers from the laboratory to the home. And now comes a comparable act of sheer genius: www.VPILF.com.

When news leaked that McCain had chosen the neophyte Alaskan governor to be his running-mate, the general reactions ranged from excitement to complete puzzlement (more the latter than the former). But for some, it was the chance to enter the newest, and soon to be most buzzed about, word into our lexicon. While the term MILF came into our culture in a roaring wave like only a line from a summer teen comedy movie can, its prevalence has waned in recent years, partly replaced by the increasingly popular "cougar." Offshoots of MILF, such as DILF and somehow GILF, have had their play in recent years, though none came close to the popularity of people's original desire to be with a hot mom.

But now, thanks to John McCain's desire to solidify his grip on the white female voting bloc and his fear of taking on another old, white guy, VPILF has officially entered our collective vocabulary. Look for it on t-shirts, on buttons, and probably on a fall episode of How I Met Your Mother. If I were a McCaininite (they exist, right?), I would embrace this wonderful term, and milk it for all it's worth.

So I must tip my hat to VPILF.com, for the site was set up two months ago -- long before Palin was a serious contender for the VP slot, let alone on the national radar. But I wonder, is Hillary hurt that there is no PILF.com?

You know what? Misogyny sucks even when its put on a woman who sucks.

People fainted at Obama rallies and no one ever once said anything about anybody wanting to have sexual relations with the man. McCain elects a woman (and everybody knows why) and suddenly we forget that we're supposed to be sticking up for equality for all (all races, all genders, all religions).

I'm surprised that bloggers like yourself are not more reticent when it comes to jumping on the "It's a Vagina; Let's Bash it!" train.

I suspect that if women were to declare that McCain is an Old Man ILF, he wouldn't be upset. And nether would Obama or Biden. Nor should they.

If somebody wants to proclaim me to be an OCDILF. Right on. It's the reason we're here. To procreate and to practice procreating.

Relax and embrace the fact that somewhere in this world there's even somebody that's thinking ifihadahammer, wow.

We all want a better world, and a bunch of us want to enjoy the ride.

Dear John McCain,
What is wrong with you? Don't you realize how marginal a candidate you are? You have surrounded your self with ideologues and bombasts who bow down to lobbyists and special interests. You have demonstrated little or no command of key facts, i.e. economics/economy, technology, what the lives of most Americans are actually like (lucky to count and own one home if that), etc. Your age combined with health factors scares the daylights out of me (let me list a few problems here: impulse control, history of malignant melanoma, memory lapses, and what appears to be dwindling judgement).

And now Ms. Palin. What were you thinking? Who did you listen to? Or, did you make that call on your own? Any way you cut it you have screwed up big time. She is not only inexperienced (mayor of a town of 6,000 people; Gov of Alaska for 1.5 years) she has a big political zit (ethics investigation). Oh, and she thinks it is just fine to teach creationism in schools along with the other science topics including evolution. Does she do exorcisms like Gov Jindal down Louisiana way? Or are her views simply confined to pandering to the right wing herd?

You passed up so many good choices (men or women) that your decision just boggles the mind. Is this what being a maverick means? It looks more like a political suicide attempt.

See you at the polls old timer, MoAb.

Where did you ever get that idea? Obama had 8 years in the Illinois legislature, and 4 in the Senate. Sarah Palin has only been governor for about 2 years. Before that she was mayor of a town of 9,000 people. I don't think that's much preparation for being president.

Besides, I bet you were plenty happy to vote for GW Bush, despite his inexperience.

If by ten times the experience, you mean NONE of the experience, you are correct.
Obama has more esecutive experience running the Harvard Law Review than this woman has being a part time mayor of a town of 8,000 and bgov. for 19 months.
She is under an ethics investigation though, and doesn't beleive in women's rights, or even science for that matter, so she's a perfect Repug.
Just picture her sitting across from Putin. Feel safe?

Hmmm...let's see. Beauty queen vs twenty years of community work--two years as Gov. of Alaska vs US Senator on the Foreign Relations Committee. Yeah...she's got more experience...NOT.

Does anyone see a pattern here ? Married a beauty queen, dumped the beauty queen when she was not attractive anymore for another beauty queen and now picked a beauty queen for the second most important job in the world. Is it all a coincidence or this guy is really like a 13 year old horny kid who just wants to hang out with hot women.

There is a little bit of Katherine Harris in her. (Yikes.) If nothing else, it was a genius move on McCain's part to do something Obama wouldn't, put a woman on the VP ticket. She's definitely no Hillary, but at least McCain isn't all talk. http://mespace.wordpress.com

I really wish these stupid farts of moderators would allow my comment on this thread through. My how protective we are of the idiotic porn-addled pigs they have blogging here.

Palin will implode all on her own. She is transparently unqualified and a condescending pick for women, who will see right through this.

In the meantime, lay off the sexually degrading attacks, pig!

Now I'm no internet scientist - but I would guess that calling someone a "pig" tends to defuse your argument a bit.

Reminds me of this:

Mr. Jones was in court, as Mrs. Smith had filed a defamation suit against him. He routienly called Mrs. Smith a "pig" to her face and to others. The judge told him he could no longer call Mrs. Smith a pig.

"Your honor, is it against the law to call a pig "Mrs. Smith?" Mr Jones asked.

The judge thought a second and said "No, there is no harm is calling a pig "Mrs. Smith".

Mr Jones then smiled and turned to Mrs. Smith and said...

"Hello Mrs. Smith!"

I think that Palin is a terrible choice for McCain (but as an Obama supporter, I'm glad he made such a weak choice). However, posts like this, focusing on her physical traits, are just downright piggish and completely inappropriate. Let's stick to the high road, OK? There are plenty of ways to point out her complete lack of qualifications to be VP, let alone being a heartbeat away from the Presidency itself. What she looks like has no bearing on those.

So this is an example of McCain's experience and judgement. This is the best candidate he could offer up as VP to counter Obama's VP choice. And, amazingly, Repugs will defend this choice and still pretend to support this sham of a ticket.

Apparently John McCain believes that angry Hillary voters are stupid and insane. Why would he go with this chickypoo? He could have chosen women with real domestic and foreign policy experience such as Kay Bailey Hutchinson or Liddy Dole instead he chooses Buffy the Polar Bear Slayer? Really. It's an insult to all of the republican congresswomen.
Take heart Dems--if there was anybody who was going to shock Hillary Clinton supporters out of their revere it is Ms. pro-life, pro-gun Gov. Sarah Palin. Scarborough got it right again. Sarah Palin is John's Harriet Meiers.

Sarah Palin isn't Hillary Clinton.

As Hillary said in her convention speech, this race wasn't about her; it was about the issues important to women. Palin and Clinton couldn't be more differed in their stances.

I love this quote from Wikipedia:

When asked on CNBC's Kudlow & Company on July 31 if she believed that she was qualified to be John McCain's Vice President, she responded:

"[A]s for that V.P. talk all the time, I’ll tell you, I still can’t answer that question until somebody answers for me what is it exactly that the V.P. does every day?

For all I know she's a very intelligent woman, but that has to be the most bimbo-esque comment I've heard in a long time. I think most people find out what the duties and job description are before they apply for a position.

Ha! Obviously she didn't know that the VP actually runs the country. At least Cheney does. Hard to know country-wide issues up there in Alaska.

"intelligent", as in being an anti-evolution, anti-choice, anti-gay rights, anti-environment, anti-gun control, anti-wildlife reservation, beauty queen?
