"Everybody Wants To Rule The World": A Winning Playlist For World Cup 2010

I am a proud American idiot, and thus I have never fully understood the game of soccer or why I should technically give an actual damn. But as an American idiot, I'm also pretty sure this at least formerly great country was first built on beating England -- or tying and really embarrassing those smug, beautiful bastards with the nicer accents.

And so it is that World Cup 2010 has finally grabbed my partial attention, and made me upgrade soccer to a position just below American basketball, baseball, football and tennis, but just slightly above curling and ping pong. So congratulations soccer lovers of the world and other Huff Po hooligans because what follows will be my first and quite possibly last ever playlist for The World Cup. Like a British soccer play, I may not score very often on this particular playlist, but when I do, I do.

This list is named after an enduring anthem by Tear For Fears, because I love the song, and because one of my cocky tweets during America's last game with England already pissed off my friend Curt Smith from that winning group. Sorry Curt, for the comment and the tie.

Now let's see who I can piss in Slovenia.
