"Happy Xmas (War Is Over)": 10 Xmas Songs That Retain Their Heat

Hearing John Lennon and Yoko Ono's majestic and enduringly heart-warming "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)" today -- just as the U.S. War in Iraq was officially declared over -- reminded me that some great Christmas songs hold up better than others. John and Yoko's Xmas masterpiece was released almost exactly 40 years ago, and retains all of its power and cultural heat. Here's a list of ten Christmas songs that never get old for me even during this holiday season when it can be difficult to hear anything but seasonal classics.

As always, please share your all-time holiday favorites below. And while you're at it, don't forget to check out CMA Country Christmas this Saturday night on ABC --- for which I got to write about some of the other great songs of this season.
