Tonight I find myself tending to agree with all sorts of Fox-y people with whom I otherwise have very little in common about National Public Radio's sudden firing of Juan Williams. I am not a dedicated Juanhead nor any friend of Bill O'Reilly, but in this instance it seems like NPR played politically correct bully at least as much as Williams played politically incorrect bully. It now sounds like Williams will profit handsomely from NPR's rush to judgment, but that doesn't make it right -- even for a PC liberal like me.

TAKE THIS JOB AND SHOVE IT - Johnny Paycheck
HIGH & DRY - Radiohead
FIRED - Ben Folds
OUT OF WORK - Gary U.S. Bonds
RADIO, RADIO - Elvis Costello & The Attractions

RADIOACTIVE - Kings of Leon
MY BIG MOUTH - The Posies
I CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT MY RADIO - LL Cool J
TURN ON YOUR RADIO - Harry Nilsson
BOYS ON THE RADIO - Hole
MOHAMMED'S RADIO - Warren Zevon
RADIO BREAKS - Modern Skirts
PLEDGE DRIVE - 5ive Style
MR. Radio - Electric Light Orchestra
FORGOT LOVE - Public Radio
MY STUPID MOUTH - John Mayer

FREEDOM Of CHOICE - Devo
THE SPIRIT OF RADIO - Rush
WHAT'S YOUR NAME - Don & Juan
MY MOUTH ALMIGHTY - Elvis Costello
PUT YOUR MONEY WHERE YOUR MOUTH IS - Jet

What are your songs for Juan Williams? Because if I remember correctly, Juan is the loneliest number.

NPR gets funding from the federal government and donations from the general public. It is a not for profit corporation and must remain politically neutral. Juan Williams has been a member of the Foxnews Sunday round table for years. As such, he usually the only one that demonstrated common sense. His remark about seeing Muslims in their traditional garb on an airplane was inane and out of character for a reporter on NPR. He should know that the terrorists would not be dressed in Muslim clothing. They would do the very best they could to blend in and not to draw attention to themselves. I think NPR did the only thing that it could do, fire Juan for his inappropriate comment on Fox network. I am ashamed of him for taking a big contract from FOX. He knows the nature of the politically biased network and to sign on with them makes him one of them. I would never trust him to be unbiased again. He could fit in very well on another network, CNN or MSNBC would be a good fit for a man with his capabilities. Unless he rolls over and plays dead for Murdoch's money, he will be the square peg in a round hole at fox.

Lookit, the woman just didn't like Juan, probably intestinally, so she fire his butt.

But that is neither the end nor the beginning of a story. That has been happening for a long, long time. In fact she herself stepped in similar dodo. So maybe if her boss likes her, she won't be fired too, and her boss won't mention her psychiatrist.

I've heard about tempests in teapots, but move on and get a life, or a wife, or a fife worth fifing.

The only problem with the Juan Williams firing is it did not come soon enough! NPR is the only place where one can get the news without all the left or right bias. In order for NPR to continue to be taken seriously, they could not allow a hack like Williams, a regular on Fox to continue with NPR. Williams always had a political agenda when he commented on NPR not unlike everyone who is a Fox regular. NPR did the right thing and was confirmed when all of FOX went nuts with their fake outrage at this firing. Good going NPR, you have regained my respect!

Wow Juan, I don't think tomgee liked you any more that your boss-lady did.

Geez Juan, maybe you'll have better luck misleading the Fox misinformed with a good iterative dose of misinformation. And if your stomach gets by week #1, you'll become a Fox natural.

Who knows--maybe they even give you a new name, like Won Foxworthy.

okay, the Aimee Mann CD that has Little Tornado is "@#%&! Smilers" (not Booker T)
apparently the moderators or filter do not like the ble--e-p--in word I used instead.

No they don't, and what about the chug-a-lugga song anyways? Where does that fit in?

Gotta fit somewheres, I know it does.
11:56 AM on 10/24/2010
The Booker T song was equally fitting, as it was "Get Behind the Mule".
11:43 AM on 10/24/2010
sorry, I was scribbling stuff down, Little Tornado is on Aimee Mann's (Bleepin) Smilers cd.

This was actually on my had-written list but but in the haste to key before leaving the house Friday morning, missed it, but due to both the media and this thread, seems especially relevant now:

Little Tornado from Booker T's recent, and highly recommended, CD: Potato Hole.
