Here are some tunes meant to encourage the Senator from the fine state of Aetna to change his mind about a public option and actually act independently of his insurance donors when it comes to fixing health care.

HEY JOE - The Jimi Hendrix Experience

Are there any songs that can bring our Senator Joe to his senses?

Love em -- but maybe Bowie could record as "The Man Who Sold Out The World" and have the surviving members of Nirvana re-record it too

Is there a song called "Holy Joe"?
Yep, it was a "Pop"-era B-side. Very cool performance:

Two oldies that popped into my head while biking that I think epitomize Lieberman are
TWO FACES HAVE I---LOU CHRISTIE
SEE THE FUNNY LITTLE CLOWN---BOBBY GOLDSBORO
See David Wild's Profile
I confess to loving both songs. Both too good for him, but wonderful all the same
My list is all from the band MORPHINE
All wrong
In spite of me
Cure for pain
I had my chance
Sharks
Your'e No Good - Linda Rondstadt

Love them both, thanks.

Daysleeper - REM
How To Be Invisible - Kate Bush
Get Yourself Together - Small Faces
If You Change Your Mind - Rosanne Cash
Poles Apart - Pink Floyd

If he's a daysleeper, maybe he'll miss the vote. As REM songs go, we know Joe's not losing his religion. Here's hoping he does go back to Rockville.

I prefer the Unreal Joe, but I love me some Bob

Take Me Down to the Hospital - The Replacements
See David Wild's Profile
Somehow I don't imagine the Replacements had proper coverage back in the day -- this was a brilliant band that needed a public option
Great fun,as usual David!

Wow, great choices, and close to my heart. I just listened to "Bully For You" on my flight to Nashville Monday, and "Compassion" should be piped into the halls of Congress.
Thanks
The only we can get the respect of politicians like Lieberman is to vigorously oppose their re-election.
If we Democrats are always more concerned with keeping total power, we will never purge the party's traitors. We will always have their millstone destroying our good works. Have the courage to stop donating to the campaigns of such traitors. Their hatred of our Democratic principles is obvious. Please stop tolerating it. And push our Democrats to defend our Constitution and international reputation by Prosecuting Bush's Torturers

Hold on, remind me, was "Sign The Petition" Terrence Trent D'Arby's follow-up to "Sign Your Name"?
The lyrics to "Head Like A Hole" by Nine Inch Nails describe Lieberman quite nicely, particularly the lines about "God money I'll do anything for you" and "God money not concerned about the sick among the pure".
Lieberman takes the lyric "bow down before the one you serve" to heart, but I hope Trent's next lyric, "you're going to get what you deserve", isn't just wishful thinking.

Joe strikes me as a Nine Inch Nails man
Love these lists, Mr Wild.
A bunch of Pearl Jam songs come to mind (Green Disease, Bushleaguer, Not for You, Grievance, The Fixer), but this one fits Lieberman best: Satan's Bed.

Love "Bushleaguer" especially -- thank you, kind Citizen
Great postings, David. And I love these articles you keep putting out. Very fun.
Here's my playlist for the Senator:
- Stevie Wonder: "You Haven't Done Nothin'"; "Do Yourself a Favor"; and "He's Misstra Know-It-All"
- Thompson Twins: "Lies"
- The O'Jays: "For the Love of Money"
- Teddy Pendergrass: "You Can't Hide From Yourself"
- Face to Face: "10-9-8"
- The Police: "Demolition Man"
See David Wild's Profile
Thanks you're a Class act too.
I especially love "You Haven't Done Nothin'" -- originally inspired by Nixon, I believe
And the idea of Joe thinking he's cool like Sting on "Demolition Man" almost makes me like him, but only almost
"10-9-8", wow, I thought nobody remembered that song...I actually have that one on 45.

See Joe's two-faced behaviour is bringing us together
One rich man from Connecticut is allowed to deny to the American people the same extensive health care plan he enjoys.
There is something very wrong about this.
See David Wild's Profile
You inspired a new song choice -- "Wrong" by Lindsay Buckingham, an old pal who's in a band that I believe once had an excellent drug coverage
I can think of two more Lindsey Buckingham songs that may fit....
"Go Insane" and "Trouble"
Amazing Rhythm Aces The Beautiful Lie
Pink Floyd Comfortably Numb
Warren Zevon Splendid Isolation or Searching for a Heart
See David Wild's Profile
The Democrats ought to place Joe in some not so splendid "Isolation," though as a song, I did "Searching For A Heart" more and dig the Don Henley cover version too. Thanks
