As I write these words, I am on a plane flying across the country watching today's news on CNN. I remember also being on a plane when "Operation Iraqi Freedom" got underway, and I first started hearing those words "Shock And Awe." All these years later, I don't have too many words left -- only prayers for the safe return of our troops and for the families of those who never came home. Here are some songs that in different ways speak to this historic moment.

SHOCK AND AWE - Neil Young
CHIMES OF FREEDOM - The Byrds
FIND THE COST OF FREEDOM - Crosby, Stills & Nash
BRING THE BOYS HOME - Freda Payne
BLOWIN' IN THE WIND - Bob Dylan
BORN IN THE USA - Bruce Springsteen
HOMEWARD BOUND - Simon & Garfunkel
WHERE WERE YOU (WHEN THE WORLD STOPPED TURNING) - Alan Jackson
WORLD WAR NONE - Frank Sinatra
WHEN THE WIND BLOWS - David Bowie
FREEDOM NEVER CRIES - Five For Fighting
MASTERS OF WAR - Bob Dylan
BETWEEN THE WARS - Billy Bragg
WINTER OF THE LONG HOT SUMMER - Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy
BRING THE BOYS BACK HOME - Pink Floyd
LETTERS FROM HOME - John Michael Montgomery
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED (BECAUSE YOU'VE GOTTA HAVE FAITH) - Todd Snider
GAMES WITHOUT FRONTIERS - Peter Gabriel
WAR - Edwin Starr
WAR OF MAN - Neil Young
GALVESTON - Glen Campbell
WHAT'S SO FUNNY ABOUT PEACE, LOVE & UNDERSTANDING - Elvis Costello

Please add your own songs of war and peace here.
