Do You Desire Cougar Town?

Posted: 02/15/10 02:01 PM ET

I was checking out the show Cougar Town the other day. As I was watching it I was thinking to myself, "Women who date younger men are so much cooler than men who date younger women."

If you ask any 50-year-old woman why she is dating a 25-year-old man, she'll look you right in the eye and say, "The sex! A 25 year old can do it all night long and service my needs, while a 50 year old would be sleeping."

You ask a 50-year-old man why he is dating a 25-year-old woman, and you will get a very different answer. He'll tell you how much he is in love with her, how wonderful she is and how much they have in common.

The truth is that when a 50-year-old man is dating a 25-year-old woman, he is really just a man who has never grown up past the age of 25 himself. He is still trying to prove to all his friends that he can get the "hot girl," because he never could when he was in his 20s (and probably still couldn't when he was in his 30s).

Now, at age 50, he has a little bit of money so he can attract the women who want money. That's great. She wants money, but doesn't want him.

Well at least he can brag to everyone about it as the two of them get into his sports car together. What a picture -- he who can barely fit into the car getting into the driver's side as tiny little she with whom he has nothing in common gets in the passenger side. Then he can imagine that as he is driving down the street with her in the car, people are looking at him and thinking "Look at Bill dating a 25-year-old. He is SO cool!"

My favorite segment of this group of men are the ones who actually travel to places like Thailand so that they can literally import a 20-year-old woman in to their life. It's so great. Here is a 60-year-old man with a 20-year-old woman.

Nothing is more of a turn off than seeing a really old guy fondling a young woman. In my eyes, there is something morally wrong with that.

Think about when you watch Jack Nicholson at a Lakers game with his hands all over some 22-year-old woman who is there with him. You see that and think to yourself, "There is a dirty old man who never grew up."

It's crazy how some of these guys have never grown up. The reason they haven't grown up is that they are always looking for trophies. A woman is just a trophy to them and nothing more.

The man who goes after significantly younger women is only looking for trophies. He can't emotionally connect with somebody who is that much younger than he is. They are in totally different stages of life.

If I were 60 or 65 years old, for what do I want a 20-year-old woman -- to run and get my prostate medication or my glasses so I can read the pill bottle? I'm not going to have interest in her music, the movies she likes or in her life experience.

I am not going to want to be seen drinking and partying in a bar on a Saturday night. I am not going to be interested in going clubbing until 4:00 in the morning.

I am not going to be interested in a lot of things that people in their 20s do. I've already done all that.

The problem for a lot of these guys is that they are unsatisfied, and have not already experienced those things in their life. So they are all about trying to prove to others how cool they are.

As we all know, true "coolness" actually comes from the inside. That's why I think older women have it right.

When you ask women dating younger men why they are doing it, they will look you in the eyes, smile and say "the sex!" They have fun with it.

Men dating younger women don't do that. When asked why they date younger women, these guys should really say "I date them because I want to give away all my money to a young, hot, slut. I really want to see her excel in life."

That's all these guys are to these women. They are just a meal ticket.

Show me that there is any real love in these situations. Prove to me that a 65-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman can really fall in love with each other. Prove to me that it is real love.

I can tell you something. It's not.

Women in that age group have many options when it comes to men, and the option they choose is not being with an old guy. The option they choose is to use the old guy while having great sex with a young guy.
