Pissing on Drug Warrior Graves

digg Share this on Facebook Huffpost - stumble reddit del.ico.us RSS

Those who support drug prohibition are the best friends the drug lords could ever hope for.

Drug warriors stand in eternal support of Osama bin Laden and worldwide terrorism; they are the wind beneath the wings of the barbarous cartels in Mexico and serve as home boys to the violent gangs that run roughshod in our neighborhoods. Drug war proponents have crafted policies that ensure ever increasing numbers of deaths from overdose, street corner shoot outs and from diseases that could have been prevented via a more intelligent policy.

In my work I have sought the answer to a very simple question: "Can you name the #1 success of the drug war?" One would think that after a hundred years there would be a powerful answer to the question, but the truth is, from the drug czar on down through the DEA to the cop on the beat there is no one who will answer, none willing to even attempt to justify the horrors created by this policy of drug prohibition.

Behind closed doors, these politicians, judges and law enforcement personnel agree, that the drug war is a failed, hopeless policy. Yet when the corporate media puts that microphone to their face and turns that camera on, they revert to cannibalism. In order for them to thrive, they insist on maintaining the lie and continue devouring generations of our children, for making the same mistakes they made in their youth. (Right, Mr. Obama?)

Those who thrive on eternal drug war refuse to debate me, to submit to an interview on my radio shows, to email or write me or to even talk with me in public. They live in a world of lies, a mutual absolution society. There is no truth, justice, logic, scientific fact, medical data or any legitimate reason for this drug war to exist. The main reason it continues is the silence of the lambs, the populace so afraid to speak, so paranoid of the glaring truth that surrounds us that they remain in the grip of a taboo so powerful that they stand helplessly while the drug war devours our Constitution, fills our prisons with our children, empowers criminals worldwide and wastes hundreds of billions of our tax dollars.

If you're afraid to speak about the drug war at work, in school, in church or elsewhere, you must educate yourself, embolden your efforts and get off the couch to email, write, call and visit your elected officials. You'll be surprised, they get it, they know the full truth about this drug war, they are just waiting to hear it from you.

I'm finishing a new book and might I suggest you use it as a tool to embolden your efforts: "This Is Your Country on Drugs - The Secret History of Getting High in America" by Ryan Grim. Ryan has assembled facts and history enough to give the reader new confidence and enough backbone to do battle in ending the drug war.

Each day you remain silent, you reinforce and support this modern inquisition and it's myriad and murderous ways; and we are once again and so easily one day closer to the destruction of liberty, of America itself.

What do you want America to be, a land of cops, dogs and prisons? That is where we are and will forever be if we do not soon sound the alarm to prevent further damage to our nation from the policy of drug prohibition. You hold the key; you are the answer.

How is it that we so clearly can see the truth, we can see the damage, we can see the failed policy of prohibition. Yet so many out there dont see it? How is this possible, its right there for all the see, the cartels gaining a hold over the USA, the violence they bring and the drug war that supports all of it.
The facts are all here to see, we have been lied too, we have been cheated and yet so many fall for the Same old lies and scare tactics, all to keep our kids safe? Well I have to tell you all, the day Prohibition will keep kids safe, is the day prohibition ends! Regulation and control just like alcohol or tobacco is the only way to keep kids safe, yet we choose to not fix the problem we just keep this failed policy going on and on, throwing more and more money at it and only the criminals, the true criminals are the ones that are better for it.
Write your senators and congressmen, every day if need be, they have to hear us, they have to listen, yet if they dont, just like Obama, they will all find themselves without employment come next elections. We the majority want reform of our drug laws, we want sick and dying citiznes to medicate with what works, they best wake up!

KyCann,

I think everybody sees it now. If they say otherwise they are lying, clinging to a pipedream. The drug war has been handed down from generation to generation as if it were the Ark of the Covenant. Fact is, nobody has dared to look inside. It's empty, it has no bottom, ain't nothing there. It is a fable, a rain dance.

Who do we go to for an opinion if little Johnny gets shot on the street corner? Who gets the microphone in their face when lil' Suzy dies, hooking and snorting? Politicians, cops, treatment providers and DA's.

Who benifits from continuing this policy? Criminals ($300-400 Billion/Yr per the UN) and the criminal, justice system ($69 Billion/Yr according to LEAP)

The rest of us lose, forever or at least until we quit looking to these false saviors who are more truthfully allies of the cartels.

Working Class Fan, I figure you can take a pass. It's the younger, stronger, citizens that need to make things easier for you. Obama seems to me that he loves drug war about as much as the next politician, so we will need the young bucks and does to put forth some effort...db

As far as Obama is concerned, I think many of us will take a close hard look in 2012. Not just because of his assinine stand on cannabis, but at the rest of his agenda. Change my butt. There is no change. From the failed drug war to Health Care, Gitmo to Afghanistan, from the bank bailout to the car maker bailout (both with no strings attached) he continues the failed policies of the past.
It maybe time to look at independents, libertarians, greens and the rest. Both dems and repubs are of the same sorry caliber, determined to continue the status quo to their benefit and not for the better of the country. This applies to all elected officials, from the local Mayor's office to 1600 Sesame Street, Washington DC, a general house cleaning is needed.

I would like to "hope" for a better future, but as you postulate we have our work cut out for us, dem por rep. I think truth is going to soon womp them all upside the head. We, the people own said truth, its a pity we have abandoned our obligation for so long.

Help make drug warriors politically dead bodies! Dean, you done good! I know II will dance on their graves!

Unless the medication is approved by a physician within federal guidelines, drug warriors are against anyone feeling good, being at ease, being pain free. The people believe in self-government and self-medication. Warriors can get their adrenaline rush making us all safer, catching violent predators! Harassing the sick and dying is an un-American activity.

Human rights violations abound in the misguided war on drugs. With the drug warriors, take morally bankrupt profiteers, servants of tyranny, gun control fanatics and racists a step closer to being politically dead bodies. Help construct better, safer drug policies for society and the individual. The violence, official lawlessness and prison over population are a policy created nightmare. Help restore justice!

Thanks Colleen, its such a no brainer, the obvious need to end prohibition, but then again, we're talking about politicians.

Superb! Very well said. And, in answer to the other comment, WE have to MAKE Obama do it. He cannot accomplish things without us pushing for them.

Obama enjoyed his drugs, "that was the point". But if your kid gets caught, currently Obama does not seem to care, he has bigger fish to fry, (than defunding the Taleban, than curtailing the cartels, than eliminating most gangs, than protecting our children, than diminishing death, disease, crime and addiction)

A 2 cent National Sales Tax; 1 cent for National Health Care, the other to publicly fund ALL elections.

Until Senators are no longer TRAITORS to OUR country and their oaths to defend the Constitution; until they END FOREVER the LEGALIZED BRIBERY to sell out citizens and the Will of The People; until this form of petitioning OUR Government has stopped forever...
- OUR country belongs to the highest bidder.

Sad, but... sadder, you are right. They sell our rights and access to our treasury for a $1,000 political contribution they will pass bill to send a million dollars to the contributor. We are too lazy, too conflicted and too trusting of these bastards.

Well said. The miserably failed drug war has cost us over one trillion dollars. Some put the estimate at one and a half trillion dollars WASTED! As you point out, all this phony war on drugs has done is enrich the cartels and the prison industrial complex.
These public dis-servants and propaganda shills will continue this idiotic endeavor, mostly because doing otherwise would prove that they have screwed the country out of the above dollars and done this based on lies. That is something these special interest lackeys won't admit!
As far as President Obummer is concerned, he is a hipocrite!

(the second vidoe is BS, they are still raiding medical cannabis dispensaries!)
As far as Jim Webb's bil, S-714 is concerned, it deserves support. It won't do anything for a while, as the commission is supposed to study for 18 months and by the time the bill is approved and the 18month study are over, we'll be into the next election cycle and I doubt that any meaningful advance will be made.
Funny sidebar, 714 was the number stamped on Quaaludes - Rohrer 714!

I'm 65 years old, caring for an invalid wife on $1,500 per month. Why do I have to end the drug wars? Why not Obama. He is the freaking president? Right?

With the same tools you're using right now, WC, your voice CAN make a difference. Dean's correct in that the FIRST step is just for enough of US - to be heard saying 'enough'. The biggest hurdle on ANY 'People's issue' though will remain lobbyists until they are gone, Industry's lobbyists perpetuate the War on People (drugs), just as they perpetuate OUR country's Health Care crises.

"Older" people are in a great position to bring attention to marijuana! You're respected in society, you're regarded as stable and dependable, and when you get together to demand change you get noticed. You actually get onto tv and into the papers, and that's a powerful thing right there!

Why do you need to take action at all? The drug cartels murder an average of 17 people a day in order to protect their profits from selling drugs in the U.S. Right now there are THREE THOUSAND people alive who will be dead by Christmas as a direct result of our prohibition.

The ONLY thing that can spare their lives is the presence of legal, low-cost competition to the cartels. Reputable businesses legally producing and selling marijuana to adults at after-tax prices too low for the cartels to match will strip the cartels of their customers, eliminate their drug incomes and end their ability and their reason to continue murdering.

Saving a life is a great thing, saving thousands is a calling.
