Candidate Palin is fair game. Say all you want about her record, her creative relationship with the truth, and her lack of knowledge about international affairs. [Go watch Joe Biden on Meet the Press from two Sundays ago...and compare Biden's vast knowledge and experience of the world with what is on display in Candidate Palin's Gibson "interview." The contrast is chilling.]

What is NOT--and should NOT be--fair game, however, is Private Person Palin. That includes her family and things related to her cultural background.

On the surface, Ms. Stillman's post...is just b*tchy and juvenile. It's about "bad" fashion choices, right? But the deeper message being broadcast is this: "Private Person Palin is flawed and less than human...and her fashion choices symbolize that."

Is this really who we are as Democrats? As Americans? Is this really how Democrats want to spend their time...looking for ways to make downward social comparisons (whether they are even accurate or not) just to try to make themselves feel superior? Because that is the psychological function of comments such as the ones in Ms. Stillman's post...to make the critic feel superior.

As a citizen, I am outraged by the shameless tactics being used by the McCain-Palin campaign. But I am also outraged--and deeply saddened--by the shameless attacks on Private Person Palin being made by so many of my fellow "tolerant" Democrats. This must stop.

So true Deanne. The problem is-SarahP's glasses are so spattered with blood-she can't see clearly through them. And when our land is gone, and the clean air and water are gone, and the animals she so loves to kill are all dead...she will stand confused...wondering why her Almighty God has not beamed her up yet.

Is this sufficient reason to repeal giving women the vote? Seriously, can women in America truly be this brainwashed by pop TV and shitrags on checkout lane racks? The style a famous woman is wearing is more important than the person she is? Have women really become so stupid as to emulate any new popular figure regardless of the heinous record of her politics, religion, ethics, integrity, or any shred of honesty or respect for the world around her?

If women are flocking to be like this woman, perhaps they deserve the robbery of rights this woman would force upon them if given the opportunity.

Which isn't to say men are any better, seeking in the last 12 years to have politicians in power who they'd rather get drunk and watch football with than politicians who are far more intelligent and capable in their elected position to solve problems that those beer-drinkin' football hicks deal with on a daily basis. America has reduced itself to a lot of slobbering idiots. While i deplore the Republican crusade to send democracy into oblivion and rule by oligarchical corporatocracy, America deserves what it's getting.
