Yes, but do you know how many people die from sugar? I'm a diabetic. If I drink or eat sugar, fruit, whole grains, my blood sugar soars. I have a little meter right here that shows me that. So, before you worry about Aspartame, I think you should find out the number of people that sugar kills each day.
Just a thought.
Gigi_Jacobs: Yes, but do you know how many people die from
Different forms of sugar have different effect on blood sugar levels - the less processed the food is the better, so in many fruits it is not actually that bad. It is also always good to mix-in some protein or fat (which is much less harmful that than the popular thinking maintains) which slow down the raise of the blood sugar level, which happens especially fast with starchy foods. I discovered many years ago that I need much less sugar than I had been accustomed to (many people around me still are used to large amounts). That's partially due to the fact that table sugar is very addictive, more than cocaine as some experiments on mice have proven.
Have you tried xylitol? It's expensive but there is almost no downside.

However, there are reports, maybe rumours, of people who are extremely old, as in 100s of years old. I know some people who claim to have met these people. Some of whom are obviously nuts, and some of whom aren't.
Pulseguy: The Vedas aren't 8,000 years old. However, there are reports,
It seems like many previous posters got nothing from this great segment and want to roast in their negative juices - go ahead, and feel how that how feels. It may feel familiar, but does it feel expansive and rejuvenative???
Chopra's reference to "biological rhythms" (circadian, seasonal, lunar, etc) is in fact quite scientific, there's nothing 'new agey' about it. The vedic sciences go back about 8000 years - having gratitude for the cycles and seasons, and aspiring to live in harmony, is basic to our human potential, otherwise we are just driving on cravings and aversion.
To me, his book "Perfect Health," published in the mid 90s, before anyone knew who he was, is a briliiant resource for self-healing and health reclamation. I personally turned around a grim diagnosis after taking a year to incorporate ayurvedic lifestyle changes and dietary medicine, along with personal yoga practice.
Chopra is a Harvard endocrinologist with interdiscplinary perspective, and, imho, we are fortunate to have his many free and low-cost resources (videos, articles, and books) for our dissociated westernized lifestyles the world over. Sure, only the 1% can afford to stay at the Chopra Center or training retreats, but in a society where most people are uninsured and near the poverty line, what's new about that???

His endocrinology studies are probably what makes him qualified to discuss quantum physics and it's relation to the soul for a living. Hmm it doesn't seem right somehow...

8,000 years ago? Somebody do the math. That is ridiculously inaccurate. Archaeologists and anthropologists put the earliest written vedas at less than 4.000 years ago. Even accounting for some amorphous supposition of preliterate vedic ideation before then, its quite a leap of faith.

It's always good to be reminded of Maharishi's knowledge.
I remember when you were his apprentice.
But don't you think experience dictates that we call these strategies
"Slowing the aging process"; since there is no evidence that anyone has even halted the aging process, much less reversed it?
PC_Contrarian: Jai Guru Dev, Deepak. It's always good to be reminded
Because making wild claims sells books and packs seminars. "Reversing Aging" (obviously Deepak is aging normally after washing out the "Just for Men"); "Achieving Bliss" (with 20 minutes of TM a day--more likely a decade in a monastery/ashram); "Controlling the Totality of One's Reality" (through "intentionality/Law of Attraction")--is what people want to hear. That it's easy. That's what torques me off about these New Age gurus. They just plain lie and poison the well for those of us who are serious students of the mind/body connection.
I've practiced qigong standing post meditation since the early nineties--it helped me beat four bouts of "terminal" bone lymphoma. "Helped" is the operative word. It's not magic--but it helped me survive the chemo of two bone marrow transplants, which ultimately killed the cancer. It takes daily discipline--at least an hour. It's work. Not magic. But I guess most people don't want to hear that.

Chopra's teacher, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, used to be careful to always say "Immortality, if it be possible,..." and not assert that it was a fact. The official benediction given in birthday celebrations for TMers at the TM university in Iowa is wishing someone "long, long life in the direction of immortality"...
And, official TM policy is that an *indicator* (not proof) of immortality in someone is their ability to float consistently while practicing Yogic Flying. Thus far, there has been no documented evidence of someone EVER floating while practicing the technique, letalone doing in consistently. Chopra knows all this. In his eulogy for his teacher, he said that MMY taught him everything that he knew.
Curious that he conveniently forgets what he was taught whenever it suits him.

I don't know if my "comment has been removed due to violations of our [Guidelines]"; or if my reply wasn't posted. There certainly wasn't any violation of guidelines.
Basically, my response is that I have always been inspired by Yogananda and Maharishi; but they both aged and eventually died, like we all will. That was my point.

Oh, wait. That will never happen because in order to win a Nobel Prize for Science, you have to actually practice *science.*
It seems that you have sections for everything else BUT science.

You cant reverse your chronological age, but you can reverse your biological and psychological age.
Sitting on Huffpo and drenching the comment boards with negativity is not how you do that.
F&F.
