Along with the lying is the mischaracterizations that often distort the truth with the goal to imprint onto the electorate an emotionally charged response. The goal of course is to hammer home a "narrative" that "sticks" whether it truly captures reality in the proper context. And this manipulation has gotten us on a course of imminent collapse. I suppose we are still moved to vote for candidates for the most bizarre reasons. Unless we are willing to ignore the "spin" and "fluff" and vote for a leader that will tell us in a reasoned manner where we need to head as a country we are certainly doomed!
