Love your clarity on this Deepak. So many people seem to use this law the way Aladdin used the lamp and, in many cases, to acquire something for themselves, usually material wealth. While I believe, as I think I understand you to say, that, as a spiritual law, the law of attraction does put into motion, so to speak, "harness" - your word - our intentions. So, as we give our attention to our intentions, the principle of synchronicity shifts or organizes the events of life resulting in the manifestation of our dreams. Material wealth may then be the outcome, if indeed that is our intention. However, I am bothered that many, for reasons not altogether altruistic, seem to seize this law in a self-serving fashion. Would you speak to this?

Well--telling people that the universe is some kind of benevolent personal vending machine sells books--such as the book-like object called 'The Secret' (Just fill out a blank check with the amount of money you desire--and it will magically, or "spiritually," appear. Does that make sense to any human who hasn't abdicated his or her faculties of critical thinking?).
The New Agers hijacked Norman Vincent Peale's 'The Power of Positive Thinking' and imbued it with a metaphysical spin: just believe and all will manifest. Positive thinking is crucial--but it must be followed up by the other 99% of the equation: positive action. It's not metaphysical at all. That being said, one can do all the right things and still have a bad result. It happens to all of us all the time. Then what? Man up--pick yourself up--stay positive and go back to work. Of course, that realistic world view doesn't sell books or DVDs, or pack seminar halls.
Hey, it would be great to just focus our intent and have all appear. But outside of Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz, it's never happened. And really, think about poor Dorothy--she wound up back in Kansas of all places. Not in fields of pure potentiality, either.

Hey...it's always better to think positive about what you desire for your life than be negative and depressed lose. People who are positive and upbeat attract more honey. People who are negative will attract more of the same. Maybe the positive ones won't become billionaires but I think they will advance in life and get more of the things they desire by being upbeat.

You should send this video to James Ray, Oprah's darling and the Law of Attraction guru who managed to kill three people as his jam-packed "sweat lodge" in the desert. It will give him something to do in jail. Of course, like the televangelists who are exposed, once he gets out of stir he will grovel with apologies for his excesses-- then present his new version of this "universal law" explaining the fine points of where he went wrong and how everyone can become millionaires if they follow his new "spiritual" advice. The sheep will pony up and soon he will be able to replace the millions in lawsuits he paid out to the families of the people he killed.

James Ray never "killed" anyone. He used poor judgement that is for sure. But the people who died could have gotten up and walked out of that sweat lodge at any time.
