Hillary's No Victim

The hubbub over David Shuster's "pimped out" crack about Chelsea Clinton confirms that this election cycle remains free of real political analysis. Shuster's a dope, of which there's no shortage at MSNBC and the other cable nets, and his comment that Hillary's pimping her daughter into campaign service was guaranteed to raise hackles. It has worked beautifully for the Clinton campaign, allowing Hillary to once again pose as the poor victim of rampant sexism, only this time she gets to bring Chelsea on the shame stage. If anything, Shuster helped Hillary, and one wonders if he has anything "colorful" to say about Obama. Certainly couldn't hurt the Saint.

What's especially delicious is how libloggers flock to defend Hillary and Chelsea's gender from the Big Bad Media that hates Democrats so. You couldn't script it any better. The reality is that Hillary is a well-connected cutthroat heavy-hitter for whom the likes of Shuster are mere rube bait. And right on cue, the lib rubes bite down every fucking time. Why shouldn't Hillary play the victim card? It always works for her. She's nothing if not consistent.

Yes, yes, there are actual sexists who hate and slander Hillary. Welcome to America. But as I've said before, I might feel a smidgen more sympathetic to Hillary were she not drenched in Iraqi, Lebanese, Palestinian and Kurdish blood. Saying that she pimps out her daughter, while crude, is really nothing. In fact, it's a compliment when compared to what she's actually supported and helped finance.

Shuster only stated what the rest of the nation was thinking, we just did have a mike and camera in front of us.
Hillary been a coattail whore for many, many years and along the way she has learned the art of pimping.
Shuster should be reinstated and given a raise for telling the truth.

Ignorant said: "Hillary been a coattail whore for many, many years and along the way she has learned the art of pimping." If you truly think that is what "the rest of the nation is thinking", you need a crash course American culture and politics. You are a member of a small hate-driven fringe group. You do not in any way speak for the masses.

I guess she's not as tough as she claims - she's a phoney you can smell a mile away. The clinton drama continues - let's hope it doesn't carry back to the white house again.

Jesus am I a good judge of character. I signed up for alerts from you and Bromwich.

Both excellent choices.

Schuster sure is a dope. There's no better way to put it. He's desperate to be relevant but he's just not really that smart or that talented.

I encourage everyone to join me in NOT WATCHING ANY TV INFOTAINMENT. period. I watch a little Newshour on PBS, but I NEVER watch nightly network news, and I NEVER watch cable news any more. I feel like a reformed junkie, because I used to watch that shite every day.

Not watching has made me realize that every second spent watching these shows is a second wasted that you will never get back.

Your valuable time is better spent staring at a blank wall, and you'll be less disinformed when you're done.

Dennis: Deep breath. Hold it. Exhale. Take up golf.

Schuster: Include in nightly prayers thanks that Clintons are public figures and probably won't be suing your ass off for libel.

Ummm...don't you mean "slander" - I don't remember anything Shuster PRINTED on this subject. That was only done by other reporters and those who posted.

I notice all the journalists defending this pathetic statement by Shuster are "men".

So, the US is the most democratic, bestest country in the world and my dog is bigger than your dog - BUT, the US men are so insecure they can't stand the thought of a woman president - progress? Na, still in the dark ages.

So much for respecting the US.

It has worked beautifully ? Has to come from a man !
That word is rude and crude, it shows the morale of the society. These kind of crude language are randomely used in the street and some homes perhaps, that does not mean it is acceptable in professional level.
It should hurt any one with children, wife or sister.
Shuster has taken the fall justifyably, more of a culprit are Mathews ande Joe in MSNBC.

Anyone talked about the issues ?

Hey, enough already - did anyone do this to Edward's daughter, Kerry's daughters or the Bush twins? No the didn't.

There is no excuse in the world for this and MSNBC is no longer on my TV.

@mythought: you called it

what you forgot is... what if anyone said that barry was pimping out michelle? can you even imagine??? there wouldnt have been a suspension. there would have been a firing! al sharpton would have been all over it, the media would still be covering it, somehow shuster would be linked to the clintons and somehow bill and hillary would have been blamed for the statement.

bill made a non racist statement and the obama-ites turned it into one... mysogyny is a-ok, but racism is deplorable!

Yeah, yeah, sure, fine, women are discriminated against, paid less then men for the same job, are more likely to be living in poverty, less likely to reach the top in business or government, more likely to be beaten or raped or killed by a man...but why do they have to nag about it so much?

And Hillary, well that's different -- she's a ball-busting bitch. So we can say anything we want about her, use any degrading, sexist language or images we want, because after all, we're NOT talking about how we really feel about ALL women, just Hillary. She's not even really a woman, so she's fair game.

Please. If we're going to end up with Barack Obama or John McCain as president, at least we can use this as an opportunity to recognize that sexism still has it tentacles deep in American culture, and that we need to act on that, speak out against it, if women are ever going to reach an equal place in our society.

The fact that a Blackwater executive is an important part of her campaign tells you everything you need to know about how sincere she is about Iraq.

Why do we INSIST on tearing Hillary down?

We must be a mysognist, or a communist, or some kind of bad 'ist'

What's good for the Clintons,....
....... is GREAT America.

We need the Clintons more than they need us.

Now THAT is funny. We don't need the Clintons. They are not some sort off super saviors. If you think there is gridlock now, wait until the Clintons hit the White House. If you think the 'impeach Bill' party is going to roll over so HRC can rub their belly and then run to help pass her legislation, you are living in la la land. Many of the Repub legislators would rather go hunting with Dick Cheney and take one in the face than see a Clinton get credit for anything.
It is going to be tooth and nail. And she won't have coattails either, so get ready for a 51-49 or 52-48 Senate majority as well. Good luck getting stuff done in that environment.
