Diane Balma joined Stand Up To Cancer as Executive Director in April 2009, less than one year after the initiative’s launch. The Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C) movement broadens awareness and raises funds to accelerate the pace of groundbreaking research that can get new therapies to patients quickly and save lives. Prior to joining SU2C, Balma served as Vice President of Public Policy and Vice President of Strategic Relations, respectively, at Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Herself a cancer survivor, Balma is a former private practice lawyer and graduate of the University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law. She is a nationally recognized member of the cancer advocacy community and widely known for her expertise in raising cancer awareness through working with the media, policy-makers and colleagues at a multitude of other nonprofit organizations.
