Karl Rove: Palin's aptitude is a questionmark

digg Share this on Facebook Huffpost - stumble reddit del.ico.us RSS

At a dinner in Toronto this week, Karl Rove, gave a glimpse into McCain recklessness.
A Canadian businessman asked him if he thought Sarah Palin would make a good President.
"I don't know," said Rove.

If Rove doesn't know, we should all be worried. Rove is not running the McCain show, but is inside enough to know, so how can he not know? How about others in the party, do they not know too? Shouldn't they know before they work for her? Does John McCain know?

Sarah Palin's candidacy has been a cynical joke from the get-go by McCain. But so has McCain's.

He has glaring character flaws. For starters, he has crashed many planes while a navy pilot and only remained one because his father ran the navy. He is impulsive and overly dramatic. His decision to stay his campaign, and duck the debates, is because he and his sidekick are in polling free-fall with parachutes.

His latest move -- to save the American economy by jumping on a plane to Washington -- is vintage McCain. He is an edgy, trigger-happy jet jockey without intellectual credentials who does as much homework as George W. Bush did when he committed the country to his stupid $1 trillion Iraq war.

He is erratic and downright dangerous. He is not intellectually or emotionally capable of handling it.

All these stories about "insiders" speaking against Palin are grasping at straws. It's the people who need to all make this realization. Rove may be just fine with an incompetent VP, so why do we care what he thinks anyway?

The Emperor Has No Clothes! The Emperor Has No Clothes! The Emperor Has No Clothes! The Emperor Has No Clothes!

Has everyone gone INSANE or what? This all some kind a crazed joke.

But, alas...it seems we may not see a VP debate. We should all be even more worried about that - if you know what I mean and I know that you do! Let me spell it out, though...the less of Joe Biden, in action, that the American people see, especially during a debate when he is in his element, the greater will be the chances that McCain will be able to eek out some kind of a victory in November. This, by the way, is not a knock against Obama but just a recognition of the significant and unprecedented impact that the VP candidates will have on the outcome of this presidential election.

I'm sure you would agree that, despite some impressive performances on the stump in typical and vintage Biden fashion, when the Democrat VP nominee for vice president isn't getting bad press he isn't getting any press at all. I wondering what your thoughts are as to why Senator Biden gets no respect from the media and blogosphere as I am sure that you haven't blindly bought into the media-driven national myths about Biden like so many others seem so willing and prone to do.

Biden was a very good choice, especially when people with cortexes contrast him to the lipsticked, yappy pitbull from Alaska who's under wraps.

I think his problem with the media is that he's too eager, like Edwards is, too publicity-conscious, too smarmy at times. But he's very handsome and gives good soundbytes.

But I'm like you. I wouldn't bet money on a VP debate or one on economics between the two contenders. The next McCain move will be to say that the economics debate should be shelved because the situation is too fluid, too vulnerable and that it would be irresponsible to contribute to the roiling markets more than now.

Never mind that he has spooked everyone with his silly drama about going to DC to fix America.

...smarmy? Yikes.

I really appreciate your insight into what makes the media tick. But, I still think that Biden's passion for politics and understanding of the critical issues is real and deep, as is his eagerness to share this knowledge and to help shape the solutions to the many challenges that face us all. Unfortunately, all of this is often misinterpreted and mistaken for other, less than admirable, attributes.

I have come to the conclusion that Biden's biggest problem is that too many people, inside and outside of the media/blogosphere, see him through a thick lens of cynicism that distorts - beyond all recognition - who he his and what he is all about...and, most importantly, what motivates him in this presidential campaign.

And, I sincerely hope that we're both dead wrong about the debates. I mean, how much more of this Bush/McCain 'the sky is falling' drama can possibly be tolerated? President Bush certainly didn't to anything in his address last night to resurrect his legacy, so to speak...on the contrary, he may have drilled the final nail in the coffin as far as his place in history is concerned.

But, say what we will...primary and presidential election races surely beat anything that passes for Canadian political campaigns, eh!? :)

Biden can be too casual sometimes, and when there's no issue, he talks about grandkids, about sports or other silly stuff that he thinks people care about...put when he's working and the topic is foreign relations, he's like a totally different animal. He'll make a great VP and I'm happy to be voting him into the white house.

Yah, ole silly Palin yip yapping about FDR and the crash of '29 and getting on the tube to tell us all about it. Oh no, wait a minute, that was not Palin, that was Biden. FDR was not pres in '29. There were no TVs in '29. Someone needs to tell Biden to stop letting his mouth get ahead of his brain.

Gaffes aside, no one disputes Joe Biden's competence, experience & intelligence. Can't say the same for his opponent.

Exactly, he's casual and makes gaffes on non-issues, because he knows when it matters, his ability is obvious.
