It is incomprehensible to me that Mrs. Clinton can seriously be touting the notion, with the support of the punditocracy of CNN and Fox, that she is leading in the popular vote and should therefore be seriously considered as the most electable candidate in the November election. She's including those who voted for her in Florida and Michigan's name recognition ballot saying that to exclude them would be to disenfranchise them. What about the Democrats in Alaska, American Samoa, Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Minnesota, New Mexico, North Dakota, Nebraska, Washington, Hawaii and Wyoming who did not cast ballots because they were playing by the pledged delegates playbook and voted by caucus. What about them? Certainly if the rules are going to be changed and judgment is based on the 'popular' vote those voters in the eleven caucus states and Samoa will be disenfranchised. What about them?
And what about us? What about the American people? Haven't we had enough of Mrs. Clinton's mad antics in her pursuit of the realization of venal personal ambition; her 'say anything, do anything, no matter what' effort to manipulate our all too willing media to gull this country's populace into believing that her wretched illegitimacy is indeed legitimate. How much mendacity do we have to suffer, how much brazenness do we have to swallow before someone, anyone, has the decency, the common sense, to relieve us of this terrible trifle, this pathetic madness?

I just have to say that I adore Donald Sutherland. He is such a brilliant and elegant actor. Also, he is 100% correct about the "Clinton Math."
Donald excellent point!!! Her notion is all Clinton spin!
No more Bush spin , no more Clinton spin, time to move on!
Exactly. Let's move on to Barry Obama spin
edayres,
Do you know Sen Obama well enough to call him by his teen age nick name?
Jonathan Alter quoting a high ranking Dem official's response to his email question, "what is going to happen tomorow?" (meaning the saturday rules comm. meeting)
Answer: THEY. GET. IT. DONE.
We will see...
Here's what is incomprehensible.....
Senator Clinton scored decisive victories in the 2nd, 6th, & 7th largest states: Texas (4%), Pennsylvania (10%) and Ohio (10%)....but due to the Democrats’ quirky rules, those three large states added up to a total net gain of only 14 delegates for Senator Clinton — an advantage all but offset alone by Senator Obama’s single win in South Carolina (24th largest state), a net pickup of 13 delegates for him there.
And, to boot, we all know that South Carolina will turn TRUE BLUE come November. ;-)

It's no wonder Senator Obama, his supporters, and The Huffington Post are so in love with this "fuzzy" pledged delegate math.
Vote to change the rules.
I'm not in love with any politician, but I'm in serious hate with the Clintons. They're everything that's wrong with Washington and the voters are telling them so.
Oh, and keep on quoting the National Review here on HuffPo. I'm sure a lot of people will really respect that.
It's not winner take all, it's proportional. You win 55% of the votes in a state you are awarded approximately 55% of the delegates. Do you think winner takes all is MORE representative? I don't.
The system is in dire need of retooling. It's broken. That's why there's this fight here.
Correction on Texas, it wasn't decisive and it wasn't a victory. What is important with the way that the delegates are awarded is that the demographics are totally different, people living in the cities (which Obama did well in Texas) are different than those who live in rural areas. So the only fuzzy math that is going on is Clinton's math trying to explain why she deserves the nomination.
You hit the old nail on the head. Thanks! Great post...
So what are you doing here Girardo?
Clinton lives on Planet Clinton and you are obviously one of the residents too.
Her math has nothing to do with the reality. A
As Mr. Sutherland put it so well, SPARE US this pathetic madness.
It's time to move on.
HuffPost's Pick
Never has the Natterings of the Nabobs of Negativity been more clearly illustrated.
Hillary Clinton had the primary sewed up a little more than a year ago and the coronation of Hillary as the Democratic Nominee was all but an accomplished fact.
The along came a black man, named Obama, that ran an almost flawless campaign that was totally organized with phenomenal leadership and stole her show completely.
Now comes the Enron like math, where she claims to have the majority of votes, complains about his pastor, refers to hard working white, (Don't people of color work hard?) middle class, and threatens to damage the Democratic party so completely as to give the White House to the Republicans in November.
My wife and I have long been admirers of the Clintons and to be truthful we are considerable wealthier because they were in the White House. However, we are both very disappointed with them because of the completely way they have run this campaign.
If the Democrats have any gonads at all, they need to sit the Clintons down and offer them the options to get out of the party or shut up and sit down.
Then, maybe, we can fix the damage, get Barak Obama into the White House and together restore our country to the United States of America the Home of the Brave and Free instead of the sick Fourth Reich that the Neo-Cons have made it into.
Nothing like making it utterly clear where Huffpost stands on this issue.
No clear-headed reason to be found.
Just anger everywhere I look and making Hillary Clinton the butt of all jokes, the lightening rod for everyone's anger & frustration.
Very grown up. Very "fair & balanced" NOT...
Guess Hillary must be the reason why the Democratic party is in a mess.
Yeah, that's it... Sure, convince yourselves. That ought to help fix the mess.
Don't forget....this is America.....The Bastion of Capitalism.....
Where do you think Obama has been spending his millions advertising? I'm sure at least some of Obama's money has gone The Huff Post's way.....don't want to bite the hand that feeds you....
I'm surprised the Main Stream Media isn't even more pro-Bama....
don't hold back Mr. Sutherland. Tell us how you really feel!
Come hang out with us at Daily Kos sometime!
Donald Sutherland....gets a bravo curtain call, even when he is not onscreen or on Broadway. He is right on in his comments..that are passionate, perceptive and politically astute.
Also, may I suggest that the disenfranchised voters are the ones who played by the rules in FL and MI and stayed home. They followed the rules and they have no voice? Crazy making logic.
It will go as it will go, but I do believe the travesty is that those who did not vote in an election that was not supposed to count...are being neglected.
These votes should be tossed out, but, of course, in a politically correct world, we all are forced to dial back and "do the right thing!"
The right thing would be to do what Hillary Clinton indicated when she said the elections in those States would not count for anything.
I guess it depends on the definition of "counting" IS!
However, no matter the rant, the rave, the many faces of Eve candidacy of Hillary Clinton spinning assassination and Reverand Wright all in one Primary slog, BARACK OBAMA will prevail.
Sometimes, good things happen to good people. (and Donald Sutherland remains one of the best)
"Also, may I suggest that the disenfranchised voters are the ones who played by the rules in FL and MI and stayed home."
Staying home was not really an option, as we had a very important tax referendum on the ballot. I voted in FL and I voted for Obama, but only because Kucinich dropped out before the FL primary. I knew going in that my vote was not going to count toward the nomination, but I exercised my rights provided to me by my state. That my state chose not to operate within the guidelines set by the parties is the fault of only my state. No one is disenfranchised. Typically, there are many states that have no bearing on the outcome of the nomination and there is no outcry about being disenfranchised. This has been part of the Clinton game plan to convince us that this is still a race. Anyone suprised by the Clinton's tactics has not been paying attention for the past 16 years.
I've been thinking exactly the same thing ever since she started blathering about the popular vote. The talking heads have pointed out that even with Florida and Michigan, she barely beats Obama on votes cast purely for her vs Obama, never mind the anybody-but-Hillary vote in Michigan. I've never heard anybody in the media point out her attempt to disenfranchise voters in caucus states. Thanks for pointing it out to them, Donald.
Now, about that son of yours. Can't you convince him how damaging 24 is to the nation? You know, there are jerks out there who actually believe that show is a legitimate ethical justification of torture. Surely, he could earn millions doing something else.
wow..and i used to really like you. when you were hanging around with jane and making noises like you were a true feminist. well, iguess we all change as we age. too bad. wont ever be able to look at you quite the same.
And you know he is no longer "a true feminist" because...?
Hillary Clinton is trying to rewrite the rules of the primary to benefit her now that she's lost. Her arguments become more ridiculous as time goes on. She's trying to convince people that the popular vote is what matters, when the rules are clear that the nomination is won by getting the most delegates.
Her argument is equivalent to a football team that's two touchdowns behind claiming victory because more of its fans came to the stadium.
mr. sutherland, "Haven't we had enough of Mrs. Clinton's mad antics in her pursuit of the realization of venal personal ambition; her 'say anything, do anything, no matter what' effort to manipulate our all too willing media to gull this country's populace into believing that her wretched illegitimacy is indeed legitimate." is a question. (C; u are one of the top 5 actors of all time. period.
Amen, Hillary has run as phoney a campaign as Mitt Romney. When Mitt ran he was willing to change policy and persona whereever he went, red here and blue there. A real political chameleon. Hillary has outdone him, changing persona state by state, and going from liberal to gun tottin' momma when she needed to appeal to her new friends the rural whites in Republican states (her HillaryBillies). At one point she apparently changed sex as she grew several testicles. Despite all her shenanigans, she has left a following who are convinced that she lost, not because of Clinton fatigue, the fact that she ran a bad campaign and faced a great candidate, but because of sexism. Obama could have blown her away months ago if he had stooped to mentioning the unending Clinton scandals.
From the looks of the NJ senate primary and the Des Moines area Congressional primary, where veteran office holders are being attacked by fellow Democrat contenders, looks like Hillary's legacy will be that Democrat campaigners are free to run negative ads against each other.
LOL u mean Mitt the "lifelong hunter" who had earlier stated that he had only went once when he was 8.
Even Hillarys supporters can't figure out why she has a vendetta against the Democratic party. Maybe she does want to be McBush's VP. They do agree on things, and she has run the democratic party into the mud. She can take her hard line supporters and run with McBush. I thought she was a class act a year ago,she has turned into a side show! Watch out if she don't get her way,a coup can be in our future.
Reading all the comments on Hill and Scott and McCain...
I never realized that there was a majority of smart people in America over the last eight years.
And who knew Scotty was on our side, all that time?
To paraphrase Forest Gump: Crazy is as Crazy does. And Hillary is surely gone off the deep end.
