The Super 7: Foods With Benefits

Posted: 01/18/2012 8:04 am

Lose weight! Boost immunity! Improve your love life! If there were a pharmaceutical drug that did all three, there'd be a stampede to the pharmacy, but for now, no such pill exists. My advice? Build your own -- not a pill, but a plan -- an eating strategy that packs power, nutritional value and a host of benefits into every bite. Where to start? Simply load up on the "Super 7" -- the seven most nutritionally-valuable foods you can buy. What makes them super? Few calories, little sugar or salt plus lots of soluble fiber, nutrients and health-boosting phytochemicals, and not a drop of guilt should you overindulge! So, if you want to weigh less, look and feel great, the magic pill you've been looking for is in the organic produce aisle and at the seafood counter. Here are the "Super 7" -- the building blocks of excellent nutrition and sustainable wellness:

The myriad of nutrients found in avocados -- oleic acid, lutein, folate, vitamin E, monounsaturated fats and glutathione among them -- can help protect your body from heart disease, cancer and degenerative eye disease. Avocados taste great and are easily integrated into any meal -- or even a fruit smoothie. Add a half an avocado to smoothies to add creamy texture and a powerful nutritional boost.

Most foods are not healthy. Most foods are dead. Many foods are healthful, though.

America is a dangerous place for its citizens. Because we are no longer a manufacturing society, the major industry in this country is based on keeping us sick and on medications. Our children are over-vaccinated at birth, which damages their immune systems. Flu shots are deadly and suppress our immune systems. (Live viruses have been found in random flu shot samples.) Our water and foods are contaminated with cancer causing chemicals. Thus anything that you can do to improve the efficiency of your immune system is vital to your long-term health.
I am obsessed with helping people improve their health, because I was critically ill and traditional medications and treatments only accelerated my decline. Scaleless Dieting, my book is not about hustling a book, I want to save lives from what I've learned. Foods are excellent choices in increasing your immunity, but herbal supplements, such as echinacea and vitamin D are musts for a strong immune system. You have to take your health into your own hands, as I did, and live.

Good explaination of these foods. I don't think most people know how healthy some of these foods are. They hear that they are good, but never realize what vitamins are in them and what actually makes them good for you. Here is a complete list of so called super foods. http://bit.ly/AtNW1o

Fennel is also amazing for you health, especially digestion. Fennel tea is quite popular - many people even use it to help with weight loss. And there are so many other yummy ways to prepare fennel. I found this whole community dedicated to fennel (called Fennel Friday) - who knew?! One of the women even published a list of great fennel recipes. I am especially loving the Spicy Tomato & Fennel Soup but they are all good!

Great foods however, dieting or specifically choosing the right foods is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to weight loss. Weight loss only happens when an individual is well educated on how it is achievable with daily strides. To me, The only way towards permanent weight loss is thorough education. Most programs only concentrate on the diets and exercises and don't even educate their clients on how the body works. It is important to know how to feed, care and exercise your body so it performs at its best all the time. Education is the hall-mark of a good weight loss program that offers good results.

I've personally lost 180lbs since Dec 2009. My blood pressure was 160/110, now its 120/80. My cholesterol was 256 mg/dL, now its 176mg/dL. I'm no longer Pre-Diabetic and I'm in the best shape of my life. It wasn't easy but I can say that everyone can do it if they have the right program.

If you're interested in my story please head over to Zdiets.net

Cheers.

This article has made my day! I've been eating at least 5 of these foods for a while now and it def makes a change in the way you feel. I'm not much of a walnut eater but I guess I should add it to my list for Healthy Eaters on the Go: http://www.skinnyscoop.com/list/claudia/healthy-eating-on-the-go2 Would love any other recommendations!

Try eating walnuts in a lunch salad: I always prepare my lunch-salad for work in the evening; some lettuce, arugula, small pieces of smiked chicken, a few slivers of parmasan cheese, some cherry tomato's, carrots and top it with a pinch of lemon juice and some crushed walnuts...

It's a lunch that keeps my going until dinner and since January 1, I have already lost 3.5 kilo's (almost 8lbs), by having this lunch and furthermore restrict my daily intake to 1500-1600 calories.
