Dr. Jonathan C. Gibralter is the 14th president of Frostburg State University.
He earned a bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at Binghamton, a master’s from New York University and a Ph.D. from Syracuse University. He worked in the mental health field before entering higher education. Dr. Gibralter has aligned FSU with the issues of climate change and
sustainability. He is a charter signatory and a member of the 2011-2012 steering committee of the American College and University Presidents Climate Commitment. He is addressing the issue of binge drinking through a community-based, multi-faceted approach. In September 2008, he was honored with the national Presidential Leadership Award for promoting a campus climate that de-emphasizes alcohol.
