Dr. Karen Stephen is a member of SEIU United Healthcare Workers – West. She estimates she has seen 10,000 patients in her 39 year career as a practicing clinical psychologist. She has worked for Kaiser Permanente in Northern California for 17 years. In 2000, when she and her colleagues felt the need to organize into a union, she got involved to promote the voice of her fellow union members. She has served as a steward and as a bargaining team member.
