Dr. Lee Ritterband is a Professor and Director of the Behavioral Health & Technology lab at the University of Virginia Health System in the Department of Psychiatry and Neurobehavioral Sciences. He is also a co-founder and VP of Research and Development of BeHealth Solutions, LLC, a company dedicated to increasing public access to evidence-based Internet delivered health interventions, including SHUTi (Sleep Healthy Using The Internet), a program for insomnia; UCanPoopToo, a program for children with encopresis; and BeStudy Manager, an online platform to allow more rapid and efficient development of Internet delivered interventions.

With degrees in clinical psychology and computer technology, Dr. Ritterband specializes in the development and testing of behaviorally-based treatment programs delivered via the Web. He is considered one of the leading researchers in Internet health interventions, and has been a Principal or Co-Investigator on large research projects funded by multiple institutes of the National Institutes of Health; the National Health and Medical Research Council (Australia); National Science Foundation; the American Diabetes Association; and various State and commercial entities.

In 2004, Dr. Ritterband co-founded the International Society for Research on Internet Interventions, the leading international organization focused on Internet intervention research. In 2009, Dr. Ritterband was a Visiting Fellow of the Australian Primary Health Care Research Institute and the Centre for Mental Health Research at the Australian National University focusing on issues of care delivery through the Internet. Dr. Ritterband is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association and the Society for Behavioral Medicine and serves as an Associate Editor for the journal Health Psychology. He is well published in the scientific literature and is a regular speaker on the use of the Internet in psychological research and clinical practice. The work by Dr. Ritterband and his lab has been covered by national and international media outlets, including: New York Times, USA Today, Good Morning America, NPR, and the BBC.
