Dr. Paul Zeitz is a tireless advocate for global justice and the realization of human rights. During his career he has been active in strategic political advocacy for human rights, equal opportunity, and justice for all in the USA and around the World. Zeitz is currently working to ensure the success of the post-2015 Sustainable Development Goals in collaboration with Global Development Incubator.

For the past 15 years, Dr. Zeitz has worked with organizations to influence public policy in the areas of monitoring and accountability, fiscal transparency, expanded US leadership, stronger global response to the HIV/AIDS crisis, global health, universal education, and the elimination of poverty.

In 2000, Dr. Zeitz co-founded the Global AIDS Alliance (GAA) and served as its President and Executive Director for more than 10 years with the support of people living with HIV/AIDS, Members of Congress, and the rock star Bono. In 2004 he was a Founding Board Member of Keep A Child Alive, Co-Founded by Alicia Keys and Leigh Blake and supported by the Oprah Winfrey Foundation. From 2004-2010 he was a co-founder and Chair of the Board of Directors of Global Action for Children, supported by the Jolie-Pitt Foundation. He initiated the Global Fund’s Debt-for-Health Initiative, the Zero Tolerance Campaign: End Sexual Violence Against Women & Children, and the Campaign to End Pediatric AIDS (CEPA). Zeitz served on the Founding Board of the U.S. Chapter of the Global Campaign for Education during 2010. During 2011, Zeitz served as a Senior Fellow at International Budget Partnership of the Center for Budget Policies and Priorities (CBPP), as Senior Policy Advisor for Keep A Child Alive, and as a consultant to UNAIDS in support of the revitalization of the African Union’s AIDS Watch Africa (AWA). During 2012-2013, Zeitz served as the Vice-President for Policy of ACT V: The End of AIDS, the Endgame Campaign, and Arms Around the Child.

Through Dr. Zeitz’s experience he has developed strong relationships with key stakeholders in civil society and faith-based organizations, governments, private sector, and global institutions in the USA and around the world. Dr. Zeitz is an accomplished media spokesperson, appearing frequently on television and radio news programs, in print and published op-eds. Dr. Zeitz launched his career as a public health and global development specialist and has nearly twenty years experience working in over 40 developing nations. While living overseas he designed and implemented a number of highly successful large-scale programs in HIV/AIDS, child survival, reproductive health, health systems development, and support for orphans and vulnerable children.

Dr. Zeitz teaches advocacy as a Professorial Lecturer at the School of Public Health & Health Services, George Washington University. In December 2010, he was selected by students to receive the Global Health and Development Achievement Award. He worked as an Epidemic Intelligence Officer (EIS) for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and served as a member of the Commissioned Corps of the U.S. Public Health Service in the Arizona Department of Health Services. Zeitz was a member of the investigation team that discovered hantavirus in 1993 in Southwestern United States. Dr. Zeitz has also worked for the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO)/World Health Organization (WHO), the US Agency for International Development (USAID), the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF), and the UN Special Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS).

Dr. Zeitz earned his medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) in 1988. He completed a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree, a preventive medicine residency and a global health fellowship at the Bloomberg School of Public Health, Johns Hopkins University between 1989-1992. Dr. Zeitz is certified by the American Board of Preventive Medicine (ABPM). He and his wife, Dr. Mindi Cohen, have five sons.
