Duncan is a freelance comedy writer and videographer, performing stand up throughout New York City. His credentials include feature pieces for 23/6, The Sportsman's Daily, the site your reading this on now, and numerous other places you've no doubt never heard of.

He graduated from Colgate University in May of 2006. From there he joined the ranks of The Onion as an intern's intern. By the end of the summer he attained head intern status, if only because all the other interns left before him. As his free rent situation came to a close, Duncan would find himself needing to get paid, and so he had to leave, and as security threw him out the door he was invited to contribute headlines to the paper. Instead of taking a paying job, Duncan went into retirement. However, his social security claim was denied and he found himself needing to supplement his pension of free comedy by creating a small video production company, DGMT Productions, LLC. He spent the following winter in Vermont, producing ski and music videos. Having dwindled his retirement funds and built up debt, like so many retirees in this day and age he has found himself once more needing to join the working force and moved to New York City. He currently resides in Brooklyn, in case you really needed to know.

Duncan soon discovered that "I'm a comedy writer" was not nearly as good of a pickup line as he originally thought. And so in 2009 began working for Smile Train, a charity that provides free cleft lip and palate surgery to children throughout the world.

As we usher in the new year and the first primary event of the election kicks off, Americans are concerned primarily with two intertwined issues: the economy and our debt. Rightfully, these issues were at the heart of our politics in 2011 and due to the numerous failures of our...

The Economy Wants Stability and a Debt Deal, Not Special Interests

Posted July 21, 2011 | 22:15:10 (EST)

As our elected officials sprint headfirst towards a U.S. default carrying hyper-partisan banners, they have signed pledges to lobby groups, damned compromise, and vehemently refused legitimate proposals to raise the debt ceiling and reduce the deficit through increased taxes and decreased spending. While the No Labels call for...

Is Congress Taking Debt Ceiling Advice From Billionaire Who Routinely Made Huge Profits Shorting Currency?

Posted June 10, 2011 | 16:33:47 (EST)

As readers of my writings know, I am a deficit hawk, however, I am also a pragmatic defect hawk. I believe strongly in the recommendations of last year's bipartisan debt commission, mainly decreasing our spending and increasing taxes and overhauling our tax code to cut deductions therefore raising...

Stop Vacation, Pay and Campaigning Until the Debt Ceiling is Solved

After a purely symbolic vote by House Republicans to not raise the debt limit in order to pay America's obligations by August 2, efforts to reach a compromise that will pass both the House and Senate to stem a potential catastrophe and find a sustainable path for the future are...

To Shut Down Government, Please Hit Ctrl, Alt, Partisanship

Posted April 8, 2011 | 12:24:20 (EST)

Nearly a year before the first primaries and days before a possible government shutdown if the debt ceiling is not raised, President Obama has officially kicked off the 2012 campaign season in the middle of heated budget debates that threaten the imminent shutdown of our entire government.

Both sides are...
