Fonda is absolutely correct. Why should she apologize?
In your heart, you know Jane is right.
I used to despise Jane.
Not any more.
Git daown.
I like Jane Fonda. She is articulate, intelligent and opinionated.
Although Jane's comments about Hillary may be a little crude, her observations are SPOT ON.
When the Dems give Hillary the nomination (it already looks like a 'done deal'), it will be an uphill battle. They are discounting her unpopularity. How ignorant is it to nominate someone who could possibly pave the way for another Repub president?
Frankly, I see little difference between the two parties except the Dems are proven cowards and the Repubs are arrogant bullies. Neither represent the interests of the American people.
"Hanoi Jane" wrongly smeared herself can say whatever she feels like. I would use worse words to describe the junior New York Senator. Since when to we all have to play nice. The Dixie Chicks(Jane is a big fan by the way) didn't want to and why should Jane. The hillstress is nothing but a smarmy smooth talking phony who soft soaps the old schools liberals with her blather about choice, gay rights, civil rights etc. and the whole "feminist" block will vote for because she is a woman. However her real ties are to K Street, the defense contractors and israel just like her smarmy fuckhead husband. Down with Hillary. Edwards 08. You tell em Janie.
Fonda should think twice about the double-edged sword that is every pronouncement she makes. She'd probably help her own cause by keeping quiet. I don't think she should apologize, though. I'm thoroughly sick of phony apologies for political statements. The person who is "apologizing" rarely seems to regret what was said. They just want to mitigate the fallout.
There may be a silver lining in Fonda's jibe, however slight. Far more people hold Hanoi Jane in utter contempt than those who dislike Hillary. If Hanoi Jane speaks out against somebody, well, that somebody must be pretty good.
I would disagree. The only people who hold "Hanoi Jane" in comtempt and smeared her with that nickname are the warmongers in this country. America right or wrong love it or leave it, these colors don't run, shoot the kids at Kent State, kill the muslims for oil mentality. Jane reached out, she was for peace, she speaks her mind. Bad Jane? I don't think so. See Jane think, see Jane speak up, see Jane put Hillary the corporate shill in her place. Good Jane.
Fonda is an extremist of the left, just like Bush/Cheney and all the rest of those neocon scumbags on the right. The radicals on either side hate Mrs. Clinton because she is centrist, pragmatic and open to ideas, unline the closed-minded Fonda and Bush. So, Bush continues with his insane policies so he avoid being a "flip-flopper," or in other words, avoid admitting he was suckered by the neocons. Fonda similarly got suckered by the radical leftists at the time, resulting in her trip to Hanoi.
Check out CAPITAL HILL BLUE if you dislike the hatred & foul language generated by the polarization of US politics which has been endemic for 20 yrs. Read HP to see extreme examples of foul language & hatred that rabid, polarized, partisans use to malign & condemn other positions & persons which represent all of the spectrum of extremism polarization fosters. The hatred has gotten out of hand.
It's difficult to avoid thinking that America was built on hatred not love of liberty & a desire for equality for all Americans.
This is America. Jane Fonda can say what she likes. About whoever she dislikes. You don't like it, don't listen or read.
I dread a Hillary Clinton candidacy. I'll grudgingly vote for her, only because she would be (marginally at best) better than any Republican.
My concern is that she will do incredible damage to the Democratic candidates downticket, losing state legislative and possibly Congressional gains even as she narrowly squeaks through to a Pyrrhic White House victory. And those state legislatures will be doing redistricting in a few more years. It would be nice to have that much-vaunted "advantage of incumbency" for a while...
I plan to vote in the Democratic primary and I will vote for Dennis Kucinich. He is the only candidate that I would consider left of center. We have several Democrat and Republican candidates who will keep the insurance companies involved in our health care. In fact all of them do, except Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich. Ron Paul says we are on our own and Kucinich says "Medicare for All"
I don't understand your problem . . . I think Jane Fonda got it just about right . . . hillary is a "ventriloquist for the patriarchy with a skirt and a vagina."
Hillary enthusiastically voted for this charley foxtrot in Eyeraq and even to cut off any diplomatic resolution. She is now running away from it and in the process asking us not to believe our lying eyes and memories. The Clintons can turn any attack into a personal asset so your feigned indignation is too clever by half.Ms Fonda has a long history of speaking her mind,as long as it was directed at approved targets I'm sure you approved heartily.I'm sure her feelings are heartfelt.I've often leaned to the right but never felt Jane was less than genuine, her public utterances were brave.Hillary will use this as an asset.
So it's OK to do it to republicans, but Hillary is off limits?
