Malkin And McCain: "You're All Just Stupid"

digg Share this on Facebook Huffpost - stumble reddit del.ico.us RSS

The latest line of reasoning to come from the Right, seems to be simply to attack Obama and his supporters for being simply stupid.

Michelle Malkin, in her syndicated column, posted yesterday at The New York Post's website, wrote this:

Obama and his paparazzi are banking on his cult of personality to carry him to victory.

Unfortunately, the odds are in his favor. Just try talking to one of the millions with their noses buried in People or Us about his relationship with Jeremiah Wright or Bill Ayers, his flip-flops on the Iraq war surge and his naivete on Iran, and you'll see what I mean.

The swoon of a journalist at the UNITY minority news media gathering this weekend sums up the star-struck reverence: "He touched me!" Yet, he's sooo "down to earth."

Hurtling toward a government of the stupid, by the stupid, for the stupid we go.

Malkin was seemingly set off by the Obama's cover story in People Magazine, a story she cited as evidence of the Obama's over-the-top celebrity status. Her piece dovetailed perfectly with the latest McCain ad that focuses on Obama as more media personality than political leader. The McCain campaign with its YouTube-wannabe spots on the media love affair with Obama and Obama's Britney-like qualities is making the same argument. We're all just stupid.

Ben Shapiro, author of Brainwashed: How America's Universities Indoctrinate America's Youth, echoed the same these. In a post appearing today on Townhall.com, he wrote:

Obama could perform mime, and his followers would applaud wildly. All that matters is the Obama persona. And that persona doesn't rely on words, ideas or policies. It relies on stupidity. And where his followers are concerned, stupidity is in no short supply.

Shapiro also wrote that Obama either equates himself or is being equated by others with Jesus, or a Messiah.

To these kind of "analysts," Obama has been arrogant and uptight and a misogynist and too black and not black enough and a lightweight and anti-American and more. Now, we're told that all of Obama's supporters and all of the people who will vote for him are simply stupid. As we all know by now, that's the level of analysis that can get you a syndicated column, pundit appearances on TV and book contracts.

I am concerned that once again the MSM is doign their best to paint the Dem candidate as something he is not. Halfway into his overseas trip, it's as if the whole MSM got their talking points and orders from on-high (their owners), that since Obama was looking so good, that they should start tearing him down by claiming that he should guard against coming off as being too arrogant and smug.
Now one week later, that talk has gone from being "appearing to be" arrogant, to Obama being actually arrogant.

They did this in 2000 with Gore and Internet, and also to Kerry in 2004 whe nthey didn't show the lies of the Swiftboaters.

If the MSM is in bed with the GOP and have access to the minds of so many millions of people, how can the Dems counter that?

Michelle Malkin is always angry about something. Why didn't she go to the Unity '08 conference and ask Obama "the hard questions"? Oh, I know, she has an identity crisis. I don't event think she's considers herself a minority. She's strange and wrung way too tight.

Frankly, I think Michelle doesn't have the guts to have gone to that UNITY conference. And I agree, like McCain, she seems to be more about being against everything than being for anything.
