In a surprise move, Time's Matt Cooper is jumping to Condé Nast's Portfolio just two months after being named Political Editor of Time.com. Cooper confirmed to ETP that he will be serving as Portfolio's Washington Editor. Cooper also well-known for being the Time reporter embroiled in the PlameGate grand jury tussle over journalistic privilege last year, which resulted in then-Time Inc. EIC Norm Pearlstine turning over Cooper's notes to special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald.
