This just in from a reader:
Just turned on the Today Show. And who is Matt Lauer interviewing? Amy Sutherland. Yes, that's right, Shamu makes the big time. Lauer even mentioned the NYT e-mail list. The only saving grace to the whole thing was Today's stock psychiatrist, who is sitting beside our humble author, frown plastered to her face, making comments like, "I've been saying that on this show for years" and, "if there are emotional issues underlying the behaviour, then the behaviour will be back."
That was at 8:36 am. At 9:21 am, I received another email:
right now Natalie Morales is talking to animal trainers about how to "train your husband"
GOOD LORD. I'm not in front of the TV and, let's face it, the clip will be online soon enough (hat tip: Scocca). But really, does the "Today" Show need to spend almost an HOUR talking about SHAMU? Stephen Colbert, I hope you're on this.
UPDATE: Amy Sutherland is about to be on the Brian Lehrer show. For God's sake, woman, let Shamu have some peace.
