TV Week's Michelle Greppi interviewed Tucker Carlson about his decision to join the cast of ABC's "Dancing With the Stars", and challenges him on the credibility issue (Greppi: "You're in the same group as Jerry Springer." Tucker: "I work in a medium that has a lot of foolish people in it. I share the bandwidth with Nancy Grace.") and on the what-were-you-thinking issue (Greppi: "What is this man thinking?" Tucker: "It was so weird. I just thought: "Dancing With the Stars"? I literally could not resist."). Tucker's apparent joie de vivre seems to confirm Scott Collins's report today that participating in "Dancing With the Stars" is not, in fact, a ploy to drum up PR for his new show, "Tucker" (though it's working, n'est-ce pas? Sorry, a dancing Tucker just makes us want to speak French). FishbowlDC excerpts the highlights of the Insider interview here, but we, too, found something we couldn't resist: including this exchange below:
Greppi: At any point, did you say to yourself, "I forfeit all my rights to be taken seriously"?
Tucker: Oh, no. No-o-o. I don't think I have anything to prove. You know, I missed the first two weeks of rehearsal because I was in Lebanon.
Bien sur, Tucker. bien sur.
