In accordance with the recently-announced "NBC 2.0," NBC announced yesterday that it will be shuffling its primetime lineup, reorganizing the jewels in its comedic crown into an all-star Thursday night lineup reminiscent of the glory days of NBC Thursday-night dominance, which are now gone, and which they now miss. Starting November 30, 2006, "Scrubs" will return to the air, and with that the lineup will be reborn: 8pm - "My Name Is Earl"; 8:30pm - "The Office"; 9pm - "Scrubs"; and 9:30pm - "30 Rock." Meanwhile, struggling-but-critically-acclaimed new drama "Friday Night Lights" which usually runs on Tuesday will air next week on Monday, replacing a rerun of a show that's based on a show that airs on Saturday.
NBC Entertainment president Kevin Reilly said earlier this week that NBC's struggling season actually reminds him of back in the 1982-83 season, when struggling new shows were on the brink of exploding into hits, making NBC an unchallenged primetime juggernaut. Reilly told TV Week that he felt confident that underperforming shows like "Studio 60" "30 Rock" and "Friday Night Lights" were worth doing and would find their audience as long as they could tag along on the backs of hits like "Heroes" and "ER," which has experienced a bump thanks to the popularity of "Grey's Anatomy." Reilly said that "Friday Night Lights" and "30 Rock" "couldn't be in worse time periods, self-starting at 8 pm"; it is NBC's hope that "30 Rock," will be buoyed along by predecessor "Scrubs" and its successer "ER." Thank goodness for "Deal Or No Deal."
