Eat The Press

Megan Mullally's dismal talk show ratings are no surprise if every segment she runs is as fluffy and irrelevant as her segment with 30 Rock's Tracy Morgan this morning, which made NO mention at all of his DUI. Instead, the former Will & Grace star asked Morgan random 80's trivia questions (Megan: "What popular '80s song was sung in both English and German?" Morgan: "Aw, man, hold on...was it U2, "With Or Without You?"), talk about 30 Rock, and random chatter about his high school girlfriend. All fascinating, to be sure, but rather less topical than Morgan's DUI earlier this week in New York — his second after being convicted for a similar incident in LA last December. Morgan turned down a no-jail plea bargain because it would have entailed pleading guilty, which would have violated his parole for the previous conviction. Morgan submitted to a breathalyzer test on Tuesday after being pulled over, registering a 0.10 (the state limit is 0.8); his hearing is set for January 4, 2007, and if convicted he could spend up to a year in jail. Nope, nothing to talk about here! The story has been all over this week since, so it's a pretty good bet that Mullally knew about it, and chose to avoid it...instead of taking the opportunity to actually be relevant. Perhaps it was necessary for Morgan, who seems to have difficulty keeping certain facts straight, as per the below:

That's Morgan's excuse — Mullally and her producers, flailing in the ratings, have none.
